As I try to create a new toon as I move from Grobbulus to WRA, I would love to use the name I had there but it is taken. Many of the names I have wanted are taken and it seems to be an endless battle. I would love to see if we can get a last name option or more letters to add some letters to make a last name within the name. Many games do allow for last names. TRP 3 does help but still, a name makes a character personal even if you don’t RP with them.
So I asked if you could give us more letters or add in the ability to add a last name. Thank you.

Last names would be nice. Until then, you’ll have to use alt codes or a different name. I randomize most of mine because everything I think of is usually taken

Last names and apostrophes would be nice to be able to use when naming characters.

Agreed!
My characters have last names in the stories I have given them, and I would love to see them in game!

Reading that hurt a little bit. Just a little. But still.

Apostrophes, dashes, last names, somehow associating the names with your account verses the server (so you can have people with the same name but maybe have some kind of distinction if more than 1 person of the same name can be told apart)…
yeah…a dash, underscore, anything so we can make surnames would be nice.
A few more letters would be nice too.
Sometimes Ive needed just ONE more character, lol
Absolutely.
I do that with a number of character names if the non-special character version is taken already.
Its like Blizzard actually thought no two people on a realm would have the same name.
I wonder how many Steves live in Los Angelos ? lol
that would be funny imagine someone nameing there charter supercalifactexalidouis. really…rofl…
I thought my name was orig but then I saw soo many lucifXXX… was was so like omg really … now… I have to really make something up so that no one could even possbile copy cat me.

The reason it isn’t an option is because this childish community cannot be trusted with it.
I have spent years trying to come up with name ideas that fit into the 12 character limit. It’s become a minigame for me. My brain might break if it gets increased.

A space or two would be best. Prester Joe would be a thousand times better than Presterjoe. Well maybe not a thousand times… but better! I’m not great at names for characters.
Given how common apostrophes are among lore characters, it would be nice.

This ain’t Pokemon, we ain’t adding extra syllables to names every expansion

Increase character limit and allow for either a space, apostrophe, or hyphen. Would allow people to continue to name their characters with the current conventions without forcing them to pick a last name or whatever, while also massively expanding naming options for those that want them.

How would that actually be pronounced? Whenever I’m in voice with someone with a name using an accented character I always make sure to emphasize the actual pronunciation to spite them.
I attempted to use google translate to see how it pronounced it. At first it detected it as Vietnamese. I changed it back to English and it pronounced it fairly well as we read it.

Folks have wanted surnames for years.
I honestly think Blizzard would’ve given them to us too, but perhaps there’s a spaghetti-code reason as to why.
Maybe names have to be a certain length or less.
Literally every other MMO I’ve played post-WoW has surnames as a baseline in character creation. Some even from the same time as or before WoW, like Star Wars Galaxies.
