No last names. There are races who don’t have last names.

No. Surnames lead to real names, lead to real life, and lead to “name and shame” activities. We already have enough methods in this game to encourage digital stalking. We don’t need more.

I wish we could have last names. GW2 allows spaces so you can do that. I also remember playing wildstar and at first they didn’t do last names but when they combined servers they forced us to add a last name. I liked it but then it died

Pretty much, there’s a lot of coding attached to the name you assign your character that interacts with the programming in the game, to the point each name has its town files if you look it up (case in point if you have a character and customize the ui and settings and then delete that character and then make a new one with the exact same name all those settings and edits carry over).
So while not impossible to implement after the fact it would take a lot of background stuff to have it rolled out, not something as simple as just increasing the amount of symbols you can use.
I am not the only one who would like more characters or add a space to create an extra name or longer name.

I don’t like anything that involves last names or connects a video game to my real life. I’ve read stories of people being stalked, attacked, and/or (most recently) murdered over a video game.
The real issue is, how would you explain to somebody else how to spell it?
Each realm could have a selection of last names for you to choose from. Players would not be creating their own names and definitely not using real last names.
What are you on about? No one is saying your character would have your last name. 
That’s an absolutely terrible idea. No one should be forced to choose from a predetermined list.
Like I said earlier, one should be forced to use a last name. Not all races have last names. And we’re missing cultural naming conventions for other races.

Oh yea, and also, idk if you’re new to wow (sounds like you are). WRA is a very popular server where all the good names are taken already. You missed the bus. You started playing too late. You weren’t good enough to get what you want. That’s not a problem for the rest of us. The rest of us understand. But go ahead with your little attention bit.

What I was referring to regarding Wildstar was having had a character named “Luma” and when we were forced to add last names I made her “Luma Thistle”….its entirely possible someone out there has that name but it sure ain’t me lol…and I also had a couple characters that I didn’t give last names but titles instead.
You say that like people don’t do it now but without spaces. It’s not really different.
More letters + allow the use of one space, apostrophe, or hyphen.
Last Names as a specific field don’t work for WoW, as not all races traditionally have surnames.

I think of it like ESO where their rules let me be first+last or if im a lizard, one name with a few hyphens ;D
