There are two other elf races that currently cannot be a DH. We could start there.

Void elf was made post Burning Crusade conflict
Nightborne were isolated in a city or coming down from magic addiction
Let them and other races keep their eyes until there’s more demons to fight
Hmm the only time and maybe the only chance in lore we might see DH relevant in lore again is if at the end of the Last Titan from the World Saga turns out to be Sargeras and Illidan returns. (IMO)
Other than that… I could only random guess as a very long shot and out of the blue… Alleria Class Change to a new type of DH that specialize on Void Horrors… and this would take a LOT of new lore and even a few retcon maybe… (IMO)
Why would I think this obsern idea?
I saw what she did in the Cartoon with fully embracing the void for a moment… she literally went full DH on the demons. Then as I quest with her she “glided” from a cliff, just before we are introduce to the “Black Blood”. Her weapon is both melee and bow almost looks like it could be use as a glaive… (IMO)
The other I saw as a possibility and we saw kinda Meta as the fight continue, was the Raid Boss Sarkareth and that could lead to more Void Draconic Powers like the Evokers that could be use to add Dracthyr as DH but very unlikely…(IMO)
I do admit that a spec on Void, teleporting as you slash your enemies, creating portals or using portals as a weapon… using the Void as a light show like Sarkareth did in that raid, or turn into long attacks if our glaive have an energy bow option, sound interesting, but it would take a lot to make happen IMO.
The other possibility could be Dread Lord as a spec or as a Hero spec could makes more sense and easier to add than Void, in the Last Titan since in Legion we have Loramus Thalipedes trap in the body of Razelikh the Defiler and that could lead to a new type of Shadow Illusion Rogue type of gameplay… a focus on any type of Shadow Base magic like Death magic and who know what else Dreadlords could have access too as a Spec since they are able to infiltrate and mimic/mirror apparently all types of abilities and magic…IMO, but mainly the ability to turn into any race which could lead in a sense opening the possibility to play as any race while being a DH… that only breaks when you Meta? (Maybe idk… how hard that can be to program in even if they work it as how Evoker function with their Visage initially)
TL;DR: If they add new races, new lore and things for DH as a Class it probably be tie in when Sargeras or Illidan shows up. (IMO)
As I said they should only be elves so yes bring them in although void and chaos isn’t supposed to mix but its blizzards lore they can mess it up as much as they want. they could have fixed it before they released the allied races.
For ex instead of having light forged Draenei being able to be shadow priest change it so that its still a dps but instead of shadow form give them holy form. Instead of shadow damage make it holy damage. In legion when Shadow and The Light touch it creates an explosion. It happens when you help Turalyon find Alleria when they touch it causes an explosion as he is full light and she is shadow.
And IIRC Fel is created from Light & Shadow fighting it is the left over residue.
As a 3rd spec I would love to see a ranged dps spec. Maybe like a Chaos Caster.
Maybe a cross between a Shadow Priest with its shadow form and a mage.

They dont need to become illidari.
Just like not all paladins are knights of the silver hand, not all mages are acolytes of the kirin tor, not all priests worship at the church of the holy light, not all druids are members of the cenarion circle, not all rogues are SI:7, not all warlocks are shadow council, or black harvest.
Eredar DHs already exist on Argus, at least 1 named npc was part of the invasion events.
The legion is not gone. All of those demons are out there still. All we did was imprison their leader. So now you have all of those demons without their top leader.

Theres also enemy eredar npcs that use the blade dance animation for one of their attacks. But I have no idea what they were called, legion prepatch was over 6 years ago, and I haven’t really felt the need to do that content since I finished it before the prepatch, and only went back briefly to unlock the manari customizions, and allied races

See this is where its funny, I provide context and exact information on where to find my claim. But you just say go play a whole zone which I did on multiple alts and telling me to look around. I did and I did not see any DH that were not elves.

I really wish they made the Eredar into a separate race, because a case could be made for them becoming DH when Illidan returns. Maybe a punishment/revenge/redemption angle plus they have plenty of hands on experience with demons…

The same can be said for every race. There are some that can and some that can not handle the power. Hell some how Blood Elves are able to handle the power and yea they will do anything for any power (except Shamanism they actively go out of their way to keep Shamanism out that’s strange.)

It’s repeatedly shown throughout the story and expansions that elves and by extension trolls are uniquely capable of absorbing and acclimating to large amounts of ambient magical energy. From night elves to blood elves, highborn and nightfallen we see them rapidly and readily adapt to high levels of ambient magical energy in ways other races just don’t.
The Blood Elves and Withered at their worst weren’t as bad as the orcs after one sip of Fel Blood, let alone (red)Fel Orcs.
I personally find it a fun bit of passive world building and I’d rather it was developed rather than cheapened or discarded, but Blizzard will do what they do for the bottom line.
True. But Blood elves are so power hungry they will embrace almost any power as long as it is power, the exception is Shamanism I do not know why but they do everything to keep Shamanism out.
What I was referring too is that every race has their members that crave power to the extent they will do what ever it takes to get it Blood Elves do this as a society.
With what it takes to be a DH I just do not think any race other than elves can control it. And even some of them cant.
