Way to completely leave out any details that might inform others of what the hell you are even talking about.
How can anyone exercise reading comprehension when you wont even divulge what it is we are reading.

I just can’t get behind the outrage here.
People mass report you, you get squelched for 24 hours (which is automated), Blizzard GMs get a ticket to review your squelch.
If Blizzard reviews your squelch within the 24 hours, and you did/said nothing to warrant a report, the squelch is removed and your account doesn’t get actioned.
If Blizzard reviews your squelch within the 24 hours, and you deserved the reports, the squelch is upgraded to a silence, which lasts either the remainder of the 24 hours or whatever your account’s silence penalty has leveled up to.
If Blizzard doesn’t review your squelch within the 24 hours, it falls off on it’s own, with no account actions.
A squelch is like getting a parking ticket for being over on the parking meter. A silence is like getting your car towed because you were parked illegally in a handicapped space. Extended silences are like getting your license suspended because you can’t seem to comprehend that parking in handicapped spaces without a permit is illegal, even after multiple tickets.

Looks like you need to work on the comprehension, since it was quite clear to most people (due to who and the post he was replying to) that he was referring to a certain streamer and his hive-minded followers, not you. (EDIT: Unless you are said streamer on a forum alt.

The irony about reading comprehension is getting worse, you would be factually wrong here. Silences double with each application by a mod. Squelches are automated and always the same length unless lifted early by a mod. They are not the same.
The automatic form email that is sent out is the same for both as it effectively lists the relevant restrictions.
Which means you have never been silenced after the report is reviewed, only squelched, basically a “time out” to cool things down and prevent situations from escalating out of hand.

All reports get reviewed, eventually.
It is how a single report for a vulgar or obscene word can get a person a silence a month and a half later.
If Blizzard decides the report was baseless, they don’t contact you to tell you they decided it was baseless, that would be a complete and utter waste of valuable time. Just like they don’t contact the person who made a report when Blizzard deems a report valid. They just don’t take any further action either way, which is completely acceptable.

Blizzard didn’t merge the systems, squelching existed prior to silencing.
What Blizzard announced was basically the replacement of the old consequence of a game suspension for chat violations with a new stacking chat mute consequence for chat violations.
Yep, squelches are automated, no disagreement about that.
It does take more than a few people to trigger one though.

I have been playing 8 years and i have NEVER been silenced or even squelched period. The problem is the people who want to behave badly in the chat channels everyone can see and expect no punishments for their bad behavior.

well, for example, sometimes youre talking to someone about a topic and it becomes VERY clear that they KNOW they are wrong by their own incoherent drivel…such as another thread Im currently posting in about botting…and you realize at a point that youre wasting your time breathing your words of wisdom at them.
You have to decide if its WORTH your time and energy…if you even care enough about the topic…or them…to keep wasting your day with.
I have X number of hours on this planet. I am only going to spend so much of them with clowns who cant just admit they are wrong. Im going to put them on ignore and talk to others who can either PROVE their case so I can admit my error…or accept they are wrong and admit their own.
Im not going to spend more time with them than I think its worth.

I feel like you have good intentions, it’s just that the tone and language of your OP got people riled up so it ended up losing the meaning of what you were trying to convey. I think it’s something to keep in mind, but I guess you feel misunderstood and upset as well?
I think for now the best thing you can do now is send in a support ticket so that your feedback can be heard.

Someone must be new here? If anything it was worse 15 years ago, when every complain was met with “it’s fine l2p.” The discussion has just barely elevated over the years. Barely.

Oooofff, that is pretty embarrassing for all those that jumped in to support the OP.
I love that a CM actually grabbed it from GD and shed the light of truth on the lies, that only usually happens when the post is in CS originally. They should do it more often.
So much for all the “conspiracy” theorists (like the OP of this thread and his other thread) out there whining about the process being fully automated where the mob mentality rules.
I doubt it will change their minds though, if they even bother to read it and respond, as they seem to be more looking for reasons to bash Blizzard than anything else.
