MoP zones have much longer loading times

Loading into Pandaria always takes 10-15+ seconds. While loading into Orgrimmar takes 5 seconds.

Why does loading into Pandaria take 2-3x longer? Anyone else notice this?

It’d be likely be due to most people being in Pandaria while there’s less in Kalimdor.

loading screen is effected by: “starting with high priority reasons”
1-your Gpu and how it can decode the data coming during your loading for that area you’re entering.
2-your disk drive speed “you should have sata Not H.D.D”
3-your addons and how fast your memory aka ram.
4-your internet “distance & routing” for handling the traffic faster.

i run 2x accounts and when they are in the same party entering same portals, one load within 2second and the other takes +10sec! “the 2x seconds is a better pc that is why!”

to answer your question, WoW Orgrimmar is a 2005 game while pandaria is 2014 Game, imagine running a 2005 game vs 2014 game, ofc your pc will always handle the older faster.

any player from 2008 remember the funny thing about dalaran where those potato pc people would have +1min loading while avg person was getting ~10sec loading going to dalaran.

Yeah I used to get super annoyed when I was trying to teleport out/in quickly to return quests before a party would disband. Got a new PC with muuuuch newer parts and it was about 5x faster after that. That was cata content.

I don’t know why it happens in mop classic but I load faster retail and if I alt tab during loading on mop classic it will often simply freeze (the game keeps running but the bar won’t progress) rather than load and I don’t have that issue on retail.

Set mop background fps to the same fps as active window game, this should fix the alt tab issue during loading.

I think its mainly point number 2. I am running a Nvidia GeForce RTX-4060 with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 processor. I do have HDD enabled. It takes my load screen about 15 seconds.

H.D.D been always a bottleneck for games loading, also it can cause other problems.
when i was using HDD in the past, if programs used full usage of the HDD my game would just freeze.

you should get a sata for your OS and main game and leave the media or what so ever on the hdd.
