Mop Classic is the worst iteration of Classic. Not because the expansion itself is bad, no, but because of the decisions made by the Classic team, and here’s the list of everything that went wrong. Cataclysm, WotLK and TBC were excellent, sure there were some problems, but they were far from the disaster that Mop Classic has become because of the Classic team.
-
Server merge, I’m putting this first because it’s what in my opinion completely destroyed the Classic spirit for many people including myself. The idea itself isn’t that bad but the execution is absolutely horrible. Why not merge Benediction and Faerlina? Why not just make fresh servers? Completely stupid decision.
-
Refusal to use the changed XP values from original Mop even though the original creators knew it was a disaster. Population collapse accelerated. Another dumb decision, I personally know dozens of people who quit Mop when they saw that leveling was ultra slow at launch.
-
No LFR, even though it wouldn’t really change anything to add it.
-
Refusing to fix racials, like the Human ones in PvP that make 99 percent of players go Alliance, making Horde win one BG out of thirty and the arena ladder filled with Humans. They needed to find a solution for racials, it’s super easy to fix and it would have kept Classic alive much longer.
-
Nerfing toys and items in Mop that used to make the game fun, I really don’t understand that completely stupid change, another amazing idea from the Classic team.
-
Increasing resilience in PvP, which makes healers broken and already strong Mop classes even more broken.
-
Doing class tuning for PvE but refusing to do it for PvP, while the current PvP state is disgusting and a few nerfs would make the game much healthier. PvP players represent 40 percent of Mop. The number keeps going down because PvP players see they’re being spat on so they quit, like I did.
-
Silent communication, no blue posts, nothing since the server merge. The lack of communication is insane.
-
The Outland bug that disconnects players apparently still not fixed. I had this bug in August before quitting Mop, and I find out in October that it’s still there.
-
Putting three layers on Grobbulus, a world PvP server that already has a low population with 60 percent Alliance and 40 percent Horde. Layers just kill the server, another totally incomprehensible choice since people who like world PvP hate layers. Adding them is completely disrespectful.
-
Not respecting every minority group of players in the game. For example, Bloodsail Crusader players were about to see their server turned into legacy, and if they hadn’t spoken up, it would have happened. Same for the PvP players from Arugal who saw their server turned from PvP to PvE even though it was 30 percent Alliance and 70 percent Horde. Maybe not 50/50, but there was still a good chunk doing world PvP. I’m also talking about the 1 percent Horde on Benediction and the 1 percent Alliance on Faerlina sure, a small player base, but still around 600 Alliance on Faerlina and maybe 400 Horde on Benediction, all doing world PvP. Blizzard spat on them too.

One last “gift” from Blizzard, removing gold from old raids. Thanks Blizzard, you really care about the community.
I think the biggest issue here is the server merge. Of course the other problems are big, but for me I will never return to Mop Classic because of the server merge. All my friends who I had fun playing with on Mop also quit, and I’ll do the same. Thankfully there will be TBC Anniversary, otherwise I guarantee Blizzard would never see another dollar from me again. But please, stop playing Mop Classic, this game is totally different from real Mop, it has no soul, it’s disgusting sh*t.
