MoP and alts from a healing perspective

I seem to recall that MoP was not a good place to have a bunch of alts b/c of the legendary cloak. Is MoP pretty much a play one, maybe two, character(s) expansion? If so, which healer spec to focus on?

disc priest is the best healer by far in mop. followed by rsham and rdruid

I’ve read on some sites that Holy Pally is also good b/c of an absorb mechanic from some of it’s healing spells

Don’t forget about fistweaving.

if we start with 5.4 balance, hpal received nerfs to eternal flame applying mastery shields -the thing that made hpal S tier in ToT, making hpal the worst healer spec alongside hpriest

Fistweaving is Monk healing? Is it similar to Atonement for Disc?

I wouldn’t say it’s alt unfriendly because of the cloak. You could complete it in LFR

Basically, except in melee. If memory serves, it works with tiger’s palm proc’ing surging mists with a glyph that will heal the lowest health person.

Not exactly, it uses a passive when spec’d Mistweaver called “Eminence”, it’s part of Stance of the wise Serpent that “Heals the lowest health nearby target within 20 yards for an amount equal to 25% of non-autoattack damage you deal”

Ahh… it’s been awhile :stuck_out_tongue:

Nevertheless, it was a fun spec to play.

Yeah, it’s super strong, and it rivaled Disc in SoO with the “attonement” playstyle.

MOP was alt unfriendly because of the rep grinds. Most of the rep grinds took about a month to complete. Disc was the best throughout the expansion and since we’re getting the last patch of the expansion they will be the best. Honestly though any healer will work unless you’re pushing like under world 100. Hpals were strong at the start but got worse as the expansion went on, holy was just average at best kinda like in cata and wrath. Resto shaman saw the most improvement patch over patch in mop. Monk was also around high B tier. If you really wanna min/max a healer it would go disc>rsham>monk=druid>hpal=hpriest

I got it on all of my alts (I had one of each class plus an extra druid… one fore heals/boom and one for feral/bear that I PvP with). With LFR, it wasn’t a problem at all.

mop was not alt friendly because of the reps you need to unlock the vender that let you get epic gear they put in a catch up for the cloak but it still tuck some time and since bliz did everything more alt friendly in cata i belive they will change it so cloak wont be that hard

Are shields good in mop? Like power word shield and the crit shields? Thats the main thing I’m lookin for tbh

no target cap on divine star+spirit shell = no other healer gets to heal. disc is beyond broken in mists

Since it’s on the last patch hopefully they have all of the catch up mechanics and do “some changes”. I don’t remember mop being too brutal for alts, at least not like legion.

The only thing I remember is the expensive meta gem legandary that you would have to buy for multiple specs.

Shields are still good but pallys also get shields with their mastery or something. So you wont be the only shield healer anymore.

warlock.

warlock was the best healer in MoP

Atonement also gets buffed to a 40-yard range, now procs off Penance damage, and Disc’s damaging crits deal double damage. They’re at their most OP point ever in Mists.

Pally already has that right now. It got its base value nerfed halfway through MoP and also doesn’t proc off Eternal Flame, which is what made it OP at the beginning. It’ll be weaker there than here.
