Moonglaives

So ever since warcraft 3, I’ve loved the huntress/sentinel moonglaives. For years and years after WoW launched, there were posts made about them asking for them to be added to the game. They’re easily the most iconic weapon of the night elves, I would say even more so than bows (in war3, only the priestess of the moon hero unit used a bow).

Then, we finally get them added… as warglaives.

Warglaives.

A weapon only usable by demon hunters, who without a doubt are nearly as hated by night elven society as demons themselves. A weapon unusable by any other class that would be more iconic for night elves, such as hunters, priests, warriors, or druids.

I get that there have to be some limitations on weapons in the game, but wouldn’t it have been a better idea to make these things fist weapons instead? At least a fist weapon could be used/transmog’d by other classes, while still being available to demon hunters.

My dreams of recreating a night elf huntress a la warcraft 3 have been shot >.>

Yeah, Blizzard did a bad.

They should either add new Night Elf glaives as non-Warglaives, or add a Cosmetic Glaive for Night Elves only, or add a Night Elf Racial that allows all Night Elves to equip glaives.

Give monks warriors and rogues the ability to equip glaives, I really don’t see a reason why not

Only DH and only Alliance.

Not true about the Alliance part. The notorious aspirant’s warglaive (the rare quality from season 3) uses the NE glaive model, but drops for Horde.

I’d say hunters too, but they went and screwed survival by making it 2h only.

All they need to do is make a moonglaive that’s a fist weapon (there are already plenty of fist weapons that look like warglaives anyways, including the legendary from illidan that warriors/rogues/etc. can equip).

That’s a Naga glaive, not a Night Elf one lol

This might’ve happened before Legion, but you can rest assured that moving forward (after Legion) anything that is classified as a glaive is most likely going to be DH only. They created a class after an iconic Warcraft boss that uses those weapons, and built up an entire mythos around him – that’s a lot of exclusivity, and the glaives are as iconic a weapon as the demon hunter is now as a class.

If it’s any consolation, Survival Hunters have an ability named “Chakrams” that used to be called “Glaive Toss”, in which they throw two Night Elf Glaives at the enemy.

Probably.

Yet I feel like classifying a Moonglaive as a Warglaive is a big mistake.

Moonglaives are used by Night Elf huntresses and priestesses.

Maybe we will get them is hey ever add “heritage weapon” transmog skins…

I wish tho.

Except the Moonglaive was a Sentinel weapon and it’s an insult to all Nelfs to watch a DH walk around with one. They aren’t the same as a warglaive and Blizz should know better. They better not do this.

You got the black eye thing and your Darkshore vengeance. Is there no limit to Night elves’ “i want” mentality?!

I think wanting Blizzard to do right by their own lore is a pretty fair thing to want.

Don’t you think it’s weird that the only people allowed to use the most traditional Night Elf weapon are the outcasts from Night Elf society?

Its a chunk of metal. Anyone can pick it up and toss it.

Tradition set by WC3 or is this another case of some novel that was a tie-in to the game, that NEs consider canon law and trace back their silly complaints?

Blizzard for some reason is at times really bad at implementing iconic symbols of their own universe in WoW.

Both. And more.

I don’t think it’s bad so much as trying to keep some things separate. Then again, until NEs get their heritage armor – probably going to be the last round of it, with humans/undead/orcs – this is kind of a moot point. If NE heritage armor comes around and the moonglaive isn’t a part of it, then they’d have a legitimate concern – since, apparently, the moonglaive is so iconic to the NE identity.

That is not a bad idea.

The Tauren have their heritage armor with the giant totem on their back.
So NEs getting a glaive on their arm could be a cool look.
