Prettier but Guidonis is more professional.
Darvile would vote for the pro.
Still - you got the like. +1
At this point Iâm thinking of it as a useful addon.
What if it could be a convenient tool to find guilds of similar interests, knowing where they like to operate, knowing if they are really active or just a guild with 40 people that are online once a month.
Does anyone want to jump around in earnest to join a community that isnât as aspiring as it appears, or a guild that isnât as active as it claims. Knowing exactly what you are looking for without the runaround. Names are one thing but the actions within are another.
And what if you could interface with the game more directly with forums rather than having to pause your time while logging into discord and reading a post. An addon or interface where guilds can have a bulletin board of sorts or an interactive map where players can place a pin âHey i need help with this quest/other in this areaâ.
Other members open the map see the pins across the map for where guild mates need assistance, or where events could take place. Again without having to spam it through chat. The current pin idea is half complete.
Does a player really need to sort through several different discords to see what communities are hosting what events? Why not an addon or tool that allows players to share RP events with everyone for mass involvement.
Like dungeon finder but as a Roleplaying Finder.
All the map does is show you where players are RPing at. But what if there was an universal addon that allows players to see the events/types of events. Event runners can list the type, size, etc. Players can then sort through what kinds of RP they want to participate in.
What if i want to participate in a Trial of the Crusade RP event but i donât know the 5 Wâs? And someone is hosting one but they posted it in their discord. What if they could post it for all to see on a map without spamming it.
Although how you could categorize RP events i can only guessâŚDungeon, town, field, entertainment, etc.
Like the individuals who designed TRP/MRPâŚNow make one for WRP(World Role Play)
A good example of an idea. An addon that shows when the next recruiting fair will be, the location, the time, and guild leaders can list their guilds as those who will be recruiting that day. Then anyone can see it anywhere across azeroth opening up the addon.
Moreover, âthe communityâ that youâre pitching to is a very small portion of a much larger group of people that just donât visit the forums (for very good reason; forum-goers are notoriously negative and needlessly cruel). I say if you wanna do a thing, do it. Donât wait for some elseâs approval, cuz you sure ainât gonna get it from here.
There are already at least 2 general Discords for MG-RP and one dedicated to WrA-RP. They list RP events, guilds, links, resources, spoilers, etc. with full details including times, places, anchor names, etc. Recruitment fairs have listings as events both on Discord and on the forums. I think there were Wikis on both servers at one time as well - they may still be active.
Thereâs no need for an in-game add on to categorize, organize, list, etc. If someone is interested in a particular guild or type of guild, asking on the forums, the Discords or in trade chat will probably get some guild recommendations. A /who will find out how many people are online.
Right now, Discord is the accepted medium for RPers to meet up, hang out, plan events, etc. Itâs been that way for a few years now. It also has the added benefit of being able to access outside the game, so when youâre bored at work, eating lunch, or in between classes, you can log in and chat or make plans. Thereâs no reason to replace it currently. It allows uploading of files, videos and screenshots, as well as calendar invites, dice rollers, music bots and lots of other benefits that would just bog down an add on. If tabbing out is an issue, I would suggest getting a second monitor or leaving Discord open so you can swap screens quickly.
i dont think he is going to listen. i think he is just wanting his idea and not really listening to anyone else.
Why should i download discord just to be a part of the events. Why not make something that benefits everyone in the end that works as an addon to make thing simpler.
Finding other like minded Role players should not be complex when playing.
Like finding a dungeon group or party, finding RP groups or events should have an easier more accessible way that doesnât require advertising in chat as often.
Does TRP/MRP not make it easier to build your character story/history appearance and means of interacting? This is only step one, why not an addon that works to unify the RP community in many search/find ways.
Discord promotes useless chatter, trolling, verbal behavior, and power abuse, where as something more in game as an addon means watch what you say and behave.
Would you not want an addon that works easier towards guild recruiting rather than posting in chat? What about finding guilds that are active in time zones that the player is in?
Iâd answer you on this, but Iâve already answered you on this. If you want an add-on, go for it.
I think you two should get married. Iâve been reading and talk about tension.
If you kill him, at least you have a cage nearby to lock him up in and toss the key.
Just a tip, girl to girl. If you donât make a move i willâŚ

Hee hee. I do love a man in chains. Just keep the hood on, and youâll be the Judge jury and excecutioner.
Im just a lonely girl lost in wunderland suffering at the hands of the queens troops
Lmao heâs all yours.
If you sincerely donât believe this happens in game , I donât know what to tell you and itâs not worth trying.
The vile crap I was being slung for playing Darkfallen right before they were introduced to Void Elves is still a massive joke amongst my friends to this day, and nothing was ever done about me telling to uninstall because I was breaking peopleâs precious made up rules.
Blizzard is notorious for itâs awful moderation.
In addition toâŚbasically everything detailed above, people tend to have a reeeaaaaallll âyouâre not the boss of meâ kind of reaction to this kind of thing. No matter how opt-in, optional, and repeatedly explained as totally optional you make a project, people will always get defensive about even an assumed perception that theyâre being limited or told what to do.
Even just mentioning that your character has a noble title in their TRP backstory section is enough to get some people heated up from the start, like, âOh, you think you can tell ME what to do just because your character is SUPPOSED to have some pretend title?!?â And youâre like, please, dude, all I did was walk by.
Part of that is lingering trauma from times that theyâve tried to engage with the existing big group projects, and part of it is just human nature. Even if you have every intention in the world of only providing hooks for engagement with people who want to engage, there are always going to be people who react like:
The best part of this whole discussion is that both Discord and this proposed add-on are both entirely unnecessary to accomplish everything being sought after.
Want to have a place in game where anyone who wishes to participate can chat in real time and post RP events on a calendar for all to see and sign up for? Communities!
Want to look at the map and see where RP is happening at any given moment? TRP map scan!
Want to advertise to potential new blood who may not know about your in-game community? These forums are right here!
Discord is just where the momentum of the mob has taken us, and now itâs an unavoidable part of the experience. You donât have to interact with it if you donât want to. All the same tools already exist. The community is stuck on Discord though, for better or worse.
Also, if Discord is too âdifficultâ or requires too much effort to adopt, so would an add-on. It would still require people to download and install it. It would still require enough people to adopt its use to be worth using at all. It would still require effort to post to it and keep listings up-to-date. No different from any of the other previously-mentioned options.
To the rest of the ideas, like councils having control of this or that or areas being claimed by certain groups or guilds: itâs been tried so many times in the past, and this is where we are. Think about that. It might work in some private settings or among those who agree to opt in. But across the general public where the spectrum of RP is so vast and wide? Youâd have better luck herding ALL the cats. The same luck that everyone with similar ideas has had in the past.
Iâll also add in - There was an addon that one person was working on that basically had a lot of these functions. It was basically a LFG/Classifieds for roleplay but much more in-depth with little icons to show what you were looking for or what you offered. A small handful used it to also advertise events.
Just no one used it aside from maybe, 20 or so people max so it died.
Some of you really need to lighten up. Its a good idea and promotes change but you attack it and Diavos like change is a bad thing and its going to mess up your perfect system.
And yet everyone uses Total Role Play still despite the fact that players use the Custom Guild and Custom Rank setting the addon making guild leadership and name claims meaningless.
Warcraft changes every addition and yet you still keep playing it despite the number of complaints. Youâll hate it, throw a fit, get drunk, complain some more, quit for a month or two then come back and still get sucked in.
Diavos, Its a good idea and probably best served in development ideas. Not in this forum. Close it and move on before more people blacklist you just because you hope to change things.
How many nude photos a day or pictures of guns/drugs/etc are posted in Discord channels. LGBT posts and so much worse. You use discord because you cant post any of that here. Thatâs your crutch.
Unfortunately you are posting to the wrong crowd.
Others lack the creativity and uniqueness that Diavos is offering. Talk about stone. I recommend closing this post before more players automatically jump on the âChange is badâ band wagon.
Iâm a little amused how many people crawled out from lurking to respond to this. Most of the time the 'ol forums get nowhere near as much activity as they once did back during the heyday of Wrath. Itâs kinda fun to see (and I honestly miss it).
From the standpoint of someone who has a fair bit of previous experience with stuff like this in the now-distant past? People want one thing above all: consistency. It becomes more difficult to steer a community consistently when it keeps getting larger and larger, although itâs not impossible, and past a point, it reaches a point of self-sustainment. That said, if you lose consistency- small or large- itâll go up like kindling in short order.
Now, add in that not everyone does stuff for purely philanthropic goals, and you can quickly see why stuff like this is a really tall order to achieve. Frankly, the only way to do it is to grow organically, one person at a time, with others who are consistently active. Even then, the reason people want to do any of this is paramount. If people are motivated by fame or sociopathy, itâs doomed from the start, as the consistency will become erratic. People see through that stuff pretty easily when the wheels on the car start to wobble.
I notice how at the start of this post so many felt they were being forced to accept an idea and instead you force discord and your communities on Diavos. Talk about calling the kettle black.
Cheers to that my cute dwarven friend. Hit me up later, weâll do dinner.
To the Critics
Playing with other like minded players should be a choice, not be forced into your little networks of allies. No-one should ever be bullied into events in order to have fun. Give all players a chance to search and not just settle with whatâs posted.
I bet a Roleplaying Finder Addon would clear up the deadbeat hotspot that is Goldshire.
Listen, weird death knights holding Fancy runeblades and a bunch of old guard in a house of nobles are no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some odd groups.
You canât expect to wield supreme executive power just because some noble players threw a law project at you!
Someone long ago recommended this to me so i donât sound like a name tyrant. I was told its better to be reasonable and approachable than intimidating. You donât get labeled a troll with fancy power names that donât even exist.
What about using the names/ranks of the guilds players are in. Or a nickname provided by the guild. That way you have a name with credit backing from others.
I use the title âHarbinger of the Mawâ, but thatâs just my guild rank and location of the guilds operation. Its just a title with supporting foundations.
An example. You were (G* Rank) of (Guild name), or (G* Rank) of (Location of Guild Operation), you could also do (G* Rank) of (Guild campaign name). Also (G* Rank) with (Profession)
All just ideas:
- The Scarlet Alchemist for an SC member (Or The Scarlet Witch)
- The Shadowed Knight of Lordaeron for a âShadow of Lordaeronâ
- The Blue Moon Exorcist for âBlue Moon Transportâ (Blue Exorcist is an anime i like)
- Chef of the Half Moon for âHalf Moon Gambitâ (Half Moon would be an Excellent Pandaren Restaurant Idea)
- The Metaphysical Priest for âMetaphysicalâ (Tough name to string with words)
