Moon Guard Council (Not Leadership) - Spin off from "Server Lore" Topic

I have always wondered if a Moon Guard Council could be created. Mind you this is just an idea for the players and it could help with server lore.

A Council of 7-10, Horde and Alliance elected by the players. Given the percentage of horde players online vs alliance would determine how many seats one side owns. Council members must be active players, of a particular age range, and be able to maintain a flexible demeanor, and mindset. If it is determined that a player is continually bias they can be voted out by players or the council themselves.

(I’m composing the Constitution of Moon Guard here lol)—(Rough Draft)

If a guild wishes to claim a small area as their domain, it gets the councils approval and is written by a council recorder or historian. Council is not lore-bound so what a guild does in their domain is their choice. If two guilds wish to claim a domain they have to promote their idea and get a vote by the council as to who is given the claim for a period of time. After that period of time the guild must relinquish rights to that domain and it is open for another to claim. Domain claim is 30 days on/30 days off (something to discuss).

Council members can help vote on issues regarding player disputes. Guild issues regarding functionality (ie Scarlets RP in stormwind.) Allowance of Horde players in the city for RP purposes. (cant control the npc actions course.)

Council members cannot vote on guild issues if an alt character is a member. Individual players determined to be trolls would just end up being blacklisted and ignored. Council can sponsor guild/group events. Like the rave party in Uldum, or a guild recruiting event in Stormwind. Each Council member can choose one guild to sponsor as their choice in what guild to join. Council members cannot sponsor guilds their alts are already members of.

A council member can’t have alts that are guild leaders. Again that can be considered bias towards vote impacts. (This is something that can be discussed as well). Council votes found to be impacted by gold or other bribes are immediately evicted from the council.

This all just an idea and of course a majority of players may not like it but it could help with a lot of community involvement. The more players are involved the more their opinions can matter and impact the server as a whole.

Council historian would have a guild listing to know what guilds are active on the server, regardless of the number of members. Players introduce themselves to the council to be recorded in the archive of all moon guard players (who they are, what they do, what group they are affiliated with, etc). Council could recruit guilds to act as a police force during events to help maintain the peace.

Council member terms are something decided by the players. If it is determined that the entire council is elected through bias actions or suspicion of such actions by a sound number of players from multiple guilds/players, the council is disbanded and a new council will be elected. All actions or decisions are placed on a wait period until a new council is elected and sworn into office.

Council members must hold office within a respected neutral location to prevent horde/alliance assaults. A raid location would be suitable so as to prevent unwanted player involvment or harrassment during council sessions. Players would be invited to the group to phase in with the council to discuss their situation.

It can be a bit of hard work but this is the level of dedication it would likely require to operate a council. Of course a council could be just alliance based. Horde domains would be off limits when discussing property or placement of operations.

It has already been established that nearly every community has their own set of server lore within Moon Gaurd. And between those groups, there isn’t a lot of love. I can respect the concept, but we don’t really need further division.

No worries, i figured it would be a long shot idea. It would probably only work on a server that was a player owned vs a public one but that may turn into a bit of a tyranny.

Personally one of the reasons i thought of the idea is because i thought what it would be like and ok to claim a particular area. For me and the guild it would be the Maw. Not many players have a love or even like for the Shadowlands addon or the zone so i wondered if i can make it my home. I can only RP in the zone and nowhere else ever under the conditions.

I don’t expect much protests but it doesn’t hurt to ask what others might think.

This is the server that had a FREE halloween event with paid guests (voice actors) and charitable donations and even still there was rampant whining and drama on the forums because "Muh character shoulda been the hero of the event :frowning: "

Like Sefi said, a Council is a novel idea. But mate, we’re all just monkeys in a cage flinging last nights dinner at each other.

This also sounds like it could possibly turn into a popularity contest.

Once upon a time during the early days of moon Guard, there were many such councils, it was great for the community and introduced a lot of people to RP and RP events for others to take part in.

Sadly, said councils eventually became troublesome for those running them and aloft for the community the numbers of attendee dwindled and eventually it di, some tried to keep the council a live but it all turned into a power grab until it disband indefinitely.

Let’s put it this way: no.

(Real feedback): I can appreciate the spirit of cooperation, but its best if groups and communities do their thing, and let the people who jive with them join in. Forcing cooperation or putting too much power and say over numbers of communities only leads to festering frustrations and resentment.

It’s way too common for these kind of efforts to be abused.
Almost every time I’ve seen people try to “run” the community, councils or otherwise, it leads to massive problems with narcissism and abuse. Voting easily comes down to whoever is most popular, and just because somebody is popular, does not mean they know what they’re doing or are fit for any sort of leadership role or even speak for the community.

Communities are best off having their own organic organization, and then you let people mingle between them as they see fit.

I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I’ve moderated.
I have more than just frustrations with how these things go. I have flat out malice and trauma.

No. Noooope. The last thing we need is the power hungry more involved in rp.

No.

We’d see a lot more problems than the realm already has. And my best bet is the council would be overtaken by some project and folded into it directly or indirectly.

Most RPers (a lot do not look at the forums or anything else) don’t care and just go about RPing.

We tried this already in the 1-2 years immediately after the server opened. It was a giant disaster, just like the current major communities are. Nothing changes. Asocial cannibals will always twist things to their own ends.

Don’t mind the two Mawsworn Kyrian who just happen to fly down, drag you up in chains, and then bring you here for tea and scones. Many would kill for such a visit and some die for the chance to try the tea.

Make sure you have your frequent flyer card out so you can get miles added.

Biff Meatslab would like to thank the Mawsworn and the Kyrian for their endorsement of his political campaign.

Oh there is no endorsements provided unfortunately, we only operate on the conditions of till death do such part, or death by significant other, or even contract death.

But you are plump enough to test our new toy the Soulgrinder (Patent pending). I am curious to see how it feels to be peeled apart layer by layer. Then put back together and put you over the cauldron roasted rotisserie style. Tie you down and let the maw rats come and slowly eat away at your flesh until only the soul and bone remain.

Sounds like an endorsement to me! Thank you for your patronage.

Where’s the psyche warden when you need one.

I hear there are openings in Tol Barad still. Cozy cell, crazy possessed neighbors, ambient lighting and plenty of garden space. You even get your own personalized Gucci coat with pocket space.
