Same issue. Constantly broken tooltips is a delight.
I did this as well and it seems to be working for me.
Bagnon was throwing a similar error that even MoneyFrameFix didn’t solve, but I was able to go into Bagnon’s files and put a bandaid fix on that addon myself.

I get these errors all the time and it says that the game is unstable because of it, and it’s Blizzard’s own code. Go Figure.

Moneyframefix addon hasn’t worked for me. This idiotic lua error is completely ruining the game for me. From just hovering my mouse of things like the Ethereal Augment Rune to practically anything that can be sold on the AH, this kicks up. And gods forbid you try to do a non-mythic dungeon. It will kick this error into overdrive and spam it until you reload which magically stops it from spamming but not coming back. It is crazy.

This started for me with the pre-patch, but it became literally unplayable with the event launch this week. I was doing the /reload ui, and it would fix it for a while, but with the event out, even after the reload, the next item I hover over will cause so many Lua errors that the game crashes. This is without any addons running.
Luckily, the MoneyFix addon is allowing me to play the game for now, but I know the issue is still there, and that this isn’t resolving it for many, even after several maintenance windows, so I wanted to bump this thread for awareness. I’ve never had a bug that made me completely unable to play the game before, so I hope this is resolved soon.

If you already run with addons and running the base UI (no addons on) and this is still happening. I would recommend grabbing these two addons:
BugGrabber - https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/bug-grabber
BugSack - https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/bugsack
Why you might ask? Well they will make it so you dont see the error. I will be captured by the BugSack addon (there will be a little green bag near your minimap when you have 0 errors and will turn red when you have some). This will then show the error which can be copied and pasted for reference later.
You wont see the pop-ups, you wont notice any errors until you get the annoying “You have a lot of UI errors please disable addons to address” even though its not an addon issue.
Hopefully this will help some people until Blizz decides to resolve this issue that has been going on since checks top of post november of 2025 in the beta.

Imagine how bad things must be behind the scenes that a bug with freaking loot and tooltips - something that must be happening millions of times a day - is a lower priority.

They probably have no idea how to get out of the corner they painted themselves into.
And the bug persists after the Thursday Jan 29 “scheduled” maintenance.

The bug has been around for months on Beta. The problem is that when you mouse over a item the game does a call to the MoneyFrame file, however the Devs made that file a secret file so now the game client on your computer cant get the values from it.

This is still a major issue 
The add-on does work but it’s annoying not to heard a word about this or the XP missing from housing. Can’t even report that one.
I have put in a ticket, erased wow, all folders reinstalled everything, no add-ons no nothing. Then get a response saying to “trouble shoot” if that doesn’t work then to ask wow community for help. How are they to help when they are having the same issues and Blizz isnt addressing it at all?

Yeah there isn’t really anything we can do until Devs fix it.
The problem is they made the MoneyFrame file a secret file so addons can’t read it. However WoWs UI is basically a addon itself, thats why it can be modded. So they hid it from their own UI.
