Basically, I think allied races should be purchasable from the store as well as being earned in game. (If you don’t have them already.) New players may find it daunting to have to rep grind to play a race that they find more appealing then base races. For example, void elves might be more appealing to certain players who favor the belf build but don’t want to play as horde. Well they have a rather daunting rep grind ahead of them to unlock this race, or what if someone wants to play as say… the Dark Iron Dwarves or Zandalari Trolls. Let’s face it, this expansion is coming to a close pretty rapidly as we make way for Shadowlands. So why not just offer selected allied races for say $10. Skip the grind and play the race you want. I myself am an avid PvPer and I find it rather boring and droll to do PvE grind, it’s not my playstyle, but if I want certain things I have to do it, it almost feels like a job that I’m having to pay blizzard to do! I’m not saying activities and reputations shouldn’t have unique rewards for maxxing em out. I just believe things like races would be better to put in a story quest that you knock out without having to grind for it. There’s no telling how many people have burned themselves out on WoW just trying to grind the rep for a specific race. I have no problems with xmogs, special toys, mounts, etc. being locked behind rep grind, but races who bring unique abilities to the table and allow for a slightly altered playstyle based on racials… that’s a bit much to hide behind a rep grind.
I would’ve suggested just making the rep easier to grind out by giving say a 200% rep bonus, but I don’t think Blizz will be that generous so monetization sounds like a better option to skip the grind.
Feel free to post your thoughts, though I can’t say I’ll read em. I only hope this might garner some attention.
P.S. I am coming at this from a PvPer perspective, I don’t like doing PvE content, especially if it’s mega grindy.
Instead of addressing the reason I don’t want to do it (Grind)
I’m offering to pay to skip it.
If Allied Races just took doing the relevant quest achievements instead of Exalted would that still push you into wanting to pay for it? Why not just address the grind instead of offering up cash to skip the thing.
^This.
What’s more, it ISN’T a grind. It only becomes a grind, because people come to this game play a week and then log off for 3 months. When they are back they suddenly want all the rewards that other players that stuck around worked for during that time.
I’ll keep saying it, people need to learn what RPG, and MMO genres really are before playing them. This isn’t Fortnite.
I get saying this while it’s relevant content but I feel it’ll start getting silly in Shadowlands when people are going back to do Highmountain WQ just for rep.
If it’s the past expansion I don’t see a reason to keep the Exalted part of the achievement honestly. Argus at least is much faster because the WQ got a huge rep buff and its 3 zones for 2 factions with plenty of them giving rep for both. Not to mention emissaries still included.
I heard you can do a faction change if you got them unlocked in one side, I just don’t know how it works.
Maybe you have to use your toon that has all the rep , do the faction change to get the equivalent rep in the other faction and then pay again for a faction change back to your original faction, but I don’t know if rep will get deleted or if your toon has to stay in that other faction.
I wish Blizzard would explain this but they won’t, they see money if you are confused and make mistakes and they take your money, but they allow you to do it and it is not even consider an exploit.
Funny. I didn’t do anything to earn Blood Elves, Draenei, Goblins, Doggos, Pandas… They seem to have just appeared after I spent some money on an expansion…
Edit: not really pro AR’s being added to the shop here. but just saying… we didn’t do anything to earn previous races.
If I could just have this option back that’d be fine too.
Only Zandalari and Kul Tiran feel new, Nightborne would’ve been a great neutral reward for players due to how good the Suramar story planned out but not expecting a “free” race here.
Dark Iron, Lightforged, Highmountain, Mag’har could’ve just as easily been extended customization options. Vulpera and Mechagnome feel more like filler than anything, I still don’t really understand why the Mechagnome join the Alliance considering the Horde did nothing to antagonize them.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO with infinite No’s on repeat! If blizzard starts selling races on the store that’s it I quit I am gone for good! Wow is NOT an F2P game and the only “sale” I’d ever approve is via expansion packs like we USED to do.
Not really… DK’s and DH’s are “Hero” classes. But that will quite literally mean nothing by the end of this year. Language really doesn’t mean much most of the time in this game lol. I didn’t do anything to earn those either. They just kind of popped up after spending money too!
A goblin is just as easily an “allied” race as it is a “core” race - they’ve allied with the horde. It’s just an arbitrary name Blizzard gave some new feature last year. Call it what you will, but a new race is a new race. Especially considering almost all of them are just old models with new colors on them lol.
Again, not pro shop here. Just saying, it’s not totally different than how we’ve acquired new races in the past.
I think you can transfer one of you allie characters that has rep grinded and it will be converted to the horde equivalent. But don’t quote me on that.
I support this. As a casual player grinding out the rep needed for Void Elves for several weeks on top of everything else i want to do in the game just isn’t feasible for me. I would either have to spend all my time grinding or actually doing stuff i like to do.
I would happily pay $20-$30 for access to the Void Elves or the Lightforged Dranaei.
