Monetize Allied Races

I unlocked mine the hard way and honestly I’d be fine if they slapped a price tag on them and called it a day for people to lazy or too busy to slave like I did. Shouldn’t be able to get the heritage armor if you buy them though imo

There are other games where you can pay $ to not play the game and get what you want. Warcraft, allied races specifically should not be one of these things.

You can see them as you like, can call them ‘cosmetic’ but as per the game itself they’re allied races you need to get the trust of.

I have all the Alliance allied races unlocked and Zandalari of the Horde. I accept that if I ever wanted to play any of the others, I would need to do the quest.

Gonna quote you on that, to say: yes! You’re right. The reputation would transfer over, all they’d need is the questing.

Putting things like races with new and powerful racials in the cash shop would be a huge mistep for blizzard and I’m pretty sure they are aware of that.

While I do agree that it sucks having to grind to Exalted in previous expansion content to get to play LFD, Void Elves, HMT and emaciated elves, putting the allied races as a cash shop unlock is 1) a slippery slope and 2) not it chief. If anything, they should just require running the story once and done (so Loremaster) once the required content is no longer the current expansion.

But uh, if you’re referring to Mag’har, KT, Zandalari, Dark Iron Dwarves, Trashgnomes or Vulp - that content is current until sometime in Q3 or Q4 of 2020, the straw-person new player can get right on that and try to enjoy themselves as one of the many many many other races already included.

I really couldn’t care less about people paying to skip stuff I will do and thereby paying for my content.

I think you should be able to buy everything but gear.

Just reduce the grind :sob:
Stop trying to give them ideas to not fix core issues with things by letting you pay for it.
Imagine if we had got the leveling revamp a decade ago instead of boosts being used to justify keeping it the way it’s always been.

Making me pull my beard out over here. I’ve seen too many MMOs and games in general that have systems people oppose and instead of fixing them the company just lets you skip it with a price tag and people act like problem solved.

Just fix the actual problem

Nope, core races and allied races are clearly defined by Blizzard themselves. It might be arbitrary to you, but they were put in as a race you need to obtain the ‘trust’ of.

I might be in favour of this. Not because I don’t want to do the work, I have them all unlocked, but because of quality and Blizzard’s greed.

Look at store mounts, they’re so much better than in-game mounts. It’s horrible but Blizz only puts in 110% when we pay them.
Want Ogres, Murlock,s Naga, and the like? Only gonna happen as a “premium” allied race.

I see your point. But I raise you a.

Nothing lasts forever

Apples and oranges.

An analogy can show an example of apples and infer something about oranges. That’s the point

Arbitrary names don’t mean much is literally my only point.

His point is who created the distinction here.
If Blizzard decided to call Shadowlands an Episodic Expansion instead of a Core Expansion and charged for 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 etc that doesn’t suddenly absolve them of any responsibility or criticism because they created a new arbitrary distinction to denote this.

You get me. Have a  on me!

I understand what you mean, it’s likely in a future expansion it won’t be a big deal anymore. Likely the one after Shadowlands.

The allied races will probably just be unlocked by default at that point.

Then play horde lol. If you really wanted them you would have done what myself and everyonr els did and play the game.
“I didnt do aby of the achievements in game but I want all the rewards”
People actually think its ok to voice this?

And you sort of can buy AR. Just reach exualted on one faction. Do the quest chain. Then pay for a faction change and boom. You just payed for an AR.

In his defense (I’m still against paid allied races) the Legion races were all able to be earned by both factions you just needed a 120 horde or alliance to do the unlock scenario.

Mechagnomes also fall under that distinction. Only in BFA did we start seeing faction specific reps for AR unlocks.

Woah there, you’re about to piss off a lot of people who grinded rep to get their allied races.

Less purchasing from the store is better. I would be ok with it if they charged….
