Moira is the WORST character in WoW

He did take the incredible punishment of a Little Lion punch to the face. And he got shouted at.

Man built a MOUNT for you and this is how you show gratitude?

Well, he didn’t make it out of a purity of hate and rage. Instead, he reasoned his way towards the end goal and for some that’s a problem.

I agree with the vast majority of your post but I take issue with this.

All the ‘men in Warcraft aren’t allowed to have spines anymore’ aside, I like that OP used a Classic character to post this, because it implies he played in Vanilla, went into a coma for two decades, and then came back to TWW and saw a woman in charge of the dwarves instead of Magni. And then furiously read everything he could on her in a day and posted this.

I’m surprised this video hasn’t been posted yet.
And evidently, that I can’t post links anymore!

Video is " The BEST Written Dwarf in Warcraft History " by Platinum WoW.
You can guess who the subject of the video is.

For a bit there I saw a few videos pushing a very conservative argument for why “real” men love dwarves and why we need to make dwarves “great again”… Obviously, I’m paraphrasing and tilting towards humor, but it is terrifying how quick people get offended because something doesn’t reinforce an old stereo type or problematic cultural movement.

Regardless, these kinds of posts always remind me of this bit of wisdom…

“To those who have stood upon pillars, equality can feel like oppression.”

And even back then it’s framed in such a way that we were in the wrong.

But Anduin shouted at him A LOT and it was very LOUD. And he said mean things.

I am not sure if you are disagreeing or agreeing with me. Yes Wrathion got away with doing alot of questionable if not outright evil things with a slap on the wrist(or I guess a punch) to the face. So the OP’s argument that somehow Moira escaped punishment/Blizzard would never do it for a male character is just incorrect.

The concern is they’re just inverting something that was a problem instead of striking a good balance.

So instead of every character being Sir Musclebrawn Flexstoic, it becomes a parade of “don’t need no man!” Both are worse than the balanced approach.

I would like to say maybe she is on a redemption arc?
Or at least what Blizzard thinks redemption arcs are…

You know for a fact majority of people will hate on the video.

If nothing else the video teaches us that thrown dwarven babies are a legitimate weapon proficiency.

Why do you think that?

The comments on the video are widely positive. And the premise isn’t wrong; Moira’s story might have issues, but it’s still easily the best written story for any dwarf character. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t feel she got a redemption arc, so much as an instant redemption scenario.

I prefer Moira as the schemer, because WoW has very, very, very few characters who come across as politically savvy like Moira had been portrayed. But just because I prefer that version doesn’t mean this version is bad. Moira is easily the second best dwarf character this expansion, and only because Dagran II is adorkable.

So I guess what I’m asking is do you think the majority of people here will hate on that video, or the majority of the broader WoW playerbase (which yes, I’d agree, they do tend to hate female characters)?

You already know the answer to your question. But if I have to spell it out to you, it is both.

Yeah this is what makes her not a good character. Straight up I’d like Moira more if she was like “I love Dagran Thaurissan and his usage of slavery.”
