i counted you need to scroll the mouse 28 times from first person to maximum zoom out

are there any mods to maybe shorten the number of scrolls needed to zoom in/out?

It sounds like your mouse is set at slowest possible scroll wheel speed. If there is not an in game adjustment for this there ought to be one in your mouses software.

The Home & End buttons can also be used to adjust the camera.
