Mod question

What version will the game be for mods? I need to get a few that are a must for me.

3.4

note though that a lot of legacy ( original Wotlk ) addons are incompatible due to the #massivechanges Blizzard in their hubris have added. . .

am assuming you mean addons

mods are…a different thing WoW speaking

anyhow curse should have updated versions of all addons during the week

Right now, you should get any addons marked TBCC. This client is now effectively the Wrath client.

Classic is running on the Legion client, so 3.3.5 addons not working on the client has nothing to do with “massive changes”. It’s literally a totally different client.

Are you saying my TBC mods will work with Wrath?

A lot do, yea. A lot more than Classic->TBCC

Well, the versions of the addons you’re using now will “become” Wrath addons. If they were going to have TBC Era and you wanted to play it, you would need to download the TBC Era client and all new addons for it.

In Classic, when they launch a new expansion, whatever the “live” Client is, it evolves into the next era. So if you’re already playing TBCC, then you have what will become the Wrath client and the Wrath addons.

The TOC for the client has already bumped to 3.4.0

As others have said, your current installed addons should already have a WRATH .toc file in them if the mod devs put in the work.

Some won’t work just yet. Which is typical of a patch like this. Be patient and keep checking addon sites for updates.

so a whole other client isn’t a #MassiveChanges now???

From TBC Classic we have been on the Shadowlands client. Classic is just skinned over the top.

So we get all the benefits of graphics effects and security patches from Shadowlands in our classic game.

Addons from back in the day (og WOTLK) will not be compatible

To be clear, some don’t think otherwise, while the client is from modern retail for all the great reasons you listed Levelingdude, for those thinking you can use a Shadowlands addon in WOTLK, well you can’t

They do use separate addon API’s.

But like Levelingdude said, they are FAR removed from the original WOTLK client

Guess you wanted the massive security holes and the inability to connect to bnet of the old client.

Even when the mantra was “no changes”, actual Vanilla addons wouldn’t work in the Classic client. It’s not a change to the game, really. Just working with different software 15 years later.
