Hello everyone, I just installed the Blizzard Mobile App and have a question. If my phone should ever break how would I disable the app? I figured I should ask now and not later.
Well, it depends on how you have things set up and how things transfer over.
If you have SMS/Phone Notifications set up and you simply replace your phone, keeping your original number, you can use that to update security settings including removing your Authenticator. Then you just set it up again.
Several phones have a cloud services that allows you to transfer the content of your old phone to your new one. Some will transfer the current version of your Authenticator (i.e. with the correct serial number that identifies that Authenticator), so you need to do little more than swap over.
If you aren’t able to do either, you may need to contact our Support staff and put in a ticket to have us remove the Authenticator (you can put in a ticket for this without needing to log into the support page).
One more question, now that my physical authenticator has been removed is there a way to restore that authenticator?
Just simply re add it but thats gona die sooner or later those batteries are past there shelf life.
The Physical Authenticator? Did you remove it previously?
As Darthwraith noted, you should be able to add that through Account Management, with the caveat that those devices were only intended to have a 7 year life span. Anything above that is living on borrowed time, so if you are capable of moving to the Mobile App, that is usually more ideal.
Cool thanks for the help everyone, I’ll definitely keep the mobile app!
so i should bit the bullet and just switch ? im legit getting anxiety over this since ive got a lot of years invested in this account and my broken brain is convinced im going to get locked out of my account
Yes switch the key fob aint gona last much longer and the mobile one now defunct.
yeah its dead i dont think i can even remove it
You can under account management tho at this point you may need a gms assitance.
I did manage to switch away from the physical Keyring Authenticator over to the Mobile version.
However, I got a new phone and managed to remove the Mobile version off but when I try to re-apply it, for my new phone, I’m having issues getting the key factors to re-apply it.
For example, needing the serial number, I have the B-Net App, on my phone and when I go to " Serial and Restore Code" option on my phone, I get an immediate error message and hitting the “Retry” button does nothing.
I’ve been at this for a couple of weeks, trying to give the company time and space to maybe fix any transmitted error, on their part, but I’m still receiving this “error” page. I even read that authenticators were retiring on Jan 5, 2024, but I guess it must’ve been some other authenticator thing they have.
I would like to re-apply an authenticator to my account, and I would love for some help/assistance 'cause I’ve exhausted my options and no, the Blizzard Support areas didn’t answer any of my questions.
Thanks.
That would be the older stand-alone Blizzard Authenticator app. That function was migrated over to the Battle Net app.
Here is the ticket link for reapplying an Authenticator.

If you removed the security option from account management I would believe your restore and serial number would be unnecessary. You should be able to do a fresh code instead, get new serial and restore codes now, basically setting it up like brand new.
