Mobile authenticator - no push notifications with new iPhone

After replacing my iPhone this week I’m no longer receiving push notifications from the authenticator app.

I am able to authenticate login requests by going into the app, but this is just a problem with notifications.

I have all notifications allowed/enabled for the authenticator app.

I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this and if so, how it can be resolved?

Thanks!

Here are some old threads describing the same problem:

Only bumping this to post the solution that worked for me. When I searched online I was unable to find a working solution however after some fiddling around I was able to fix not getting push notification after changing to a new phone.

I believe the problem is when your authenticator serial and restore codes remain the same, they are somehow matched to your other device and that’s why you are not getting the push notifications. If you simply install the mobile app and set it up, it seems to default to the serial and restore codes from your previous installation. To fix this, you have to completely reset the authenticator.

  1. Remove authenticator from account on the website security settings.
  2. On the mobile app, go into the options (three dots), and hit “reset”.
  3. Redo the setup on the mobile app to add the authenticator to your account.

You should now see that your serial and restore codes have completely changed and should make push notifications work once again.

Happy authenticating.
