Mobile Authenticator Access

(Posted in Gen Forums as well. Mods feel free to remove either if in the wrong place <3 )

I made a new account recently, and when setting it up I wanted to add the SMS authenticator feature I had previously on my old account.

I got the error saying my phone number was invalid. I googled it, and figured out that Blizzard no longer accepts prepaid phone services.

The odd thing is, the phone I use now is the exact same phone and number. I do understand changes happen, but it seems weird that I can’t re-add literally the exact same phone and number I had on it before. I am able to receive SMS and never had any issues with it previously.

I would like to humbly request Blizzard change its position on this. I use MetroPCS because I pay for 4 lines with unlimited data and it saves a lot of money for the exact same service.

I always liked chatting on the forums while I’m at work, but if I get logged out sometimes it requests I authenticate again (even if I ask it not to ask me again on this browser.) I don’t want to have to carry the physical authenticator around with me.

Would be a nice change to undo! <3 Thanks.

We’ve never been able to accept pre-paid numbers, Paycheck.

Thing is, numbers don’t always register accurately, but we’ve no control over that.

Hmmm… I wonder if there is another method that is more reliable? I definitely had access on it before. It’s been so long though.

Doesn’t seem to be another solution. It’s not a major concern, but seeing the incomplete profile without having my number added gives the obsessive completionist part of my brain a slight eye twitch. :joy:

Thanks for the response.

It’s more based on the plan a phone is under - rather than the number or the phone itself.
