I usually main as healer and I’d love to try the dps specs in shuffles and arenas but I am placed at a much higher rating than my dps skill because of internal MMR.
I don’t want to lose 20 games in a row to level out my dps rating compared to my healing capability and rating. I’d love to start from 0 and rank up as I learn the different specs.
I understand you don’t want glads going in lobbies less than 2k but most of us are casual players learning different specs and even different alts.
Have any of you had this issue or is it fine for you all?
Do you think Blizz will change this for different roles like heal/dps specs in rated matches in the future?

I think it’s definitely possible, but as you’ve said, there’s a tradeoff.
I personally find playing 2s to be a bit less stressful in that regard, although that is a bracket where I wish I could separate my cr/mmr between specs/roles for sure
I was about to queue on another spec,
even made a post advocating for it to saturate the ladder as we all wait for MMR cap to lift and for things to balance out…
But if MMR carries over as you say, it might be risker than I thought…

You can either queue like 2-3 times and tank your mmr to where you should be or just level an alt of the same class

That’s a bit weird, rather betrays the purpose of separating to begin with…
It only bleeds over to a degree. Last season I was 2700 or something on Arms and went to try Fury and was 2000. How it works, exactly, this season, I’m not sure, though.
I just wanna confirm playing as another spec won’t affect my main spec’s MMR, making me lose disproportionally later… If that is the case, I’d have to invalidate my whole recent post trying to incentivize more queues by calling people to queue on different specs
It shouldn’t. What I’m talking about here is it trying to seed your alt specs up to avoid having you ruin low mmr games, like if you’re 2200 on Balance it might try 1700 if you respec Feral just because it’s expecting you to tear apart a 1500 lobby.
Although this is just how it worked last season. Dunno about now. Lmao.

Yeah I also heard similar conformations on Discord… Due to the weird MMR situation atm and not wanting to sit idle, I wanna keep queueing to keep gearing, etc… and who knows maybe I can even climb on the other spec in the meantime. Gotta boost up participation as much as possible, for everyone’s sake. The enchant is cool
