They are out there, but as you said… their offensive power often totally negates their need to have good defensive play (which is where skill truly resides).
That depends entirely on the class too though doesnt it?
It does. Most classes have some kind of frontloaded wombo/combo that they can do. Frost DKs have been struggling offensively for awhile and their wombo/combo requires a lot of setup, so their requirement to have good defensive play is much higher. However, DKs have bad defensives in a high burst damage meta.

Here is my friend doing 4.5 million damage in 30 seconds with single target damage from a couple of nights ago. He is in between 140-200K sustained DPS here for 30 seconds. Check the details there for current fight.
Now imagine what happens when we are in the same team fight together. Unless the enemy team has some VERY GOOD healers people just drop like flies.
The “X class is OP” is always blown way out of proportion. I rarely seen a BG with more than a handful of hunters in total. Even now I just finished one with 2 on each side. Back when Ret had their rework and every other thread here was “Nothing but rets in BGs” I never saw a single BG with more than 3 or 4.
Hunters are OP right now, don’t get me wrong. But unless i’m getting dogpiled by them I don’t feel like I can’t manage them. All of their damage is frontloaded and they still can’t play defensively very well.
On a flag carrier with his buffs hidden…
To my recollection, i’ve not yet said that hunter damage isnt obscene, or denied the ease at which the class is played. My point, the one you quoted, was that im not seeing 5 hunters or 6 hunters a game, there are no more (from my perspective) than there were before i quit. The community is whining as if every bg is full of hunters, There were more ret paladins playing after their rework than there appear to be hunters playing now.
There are five enemy players there, my man. He spikes 200K DPS on flag carrier and over 140K DPS on the people without a flag.
Color me unimpressed. Any monkey with the left half of his keyboard can pull that damage on a group of enemies, one of which is a FC, uninterrupted. Just looked at the video again, some of those enemies don’t even have over 500k HP.
I love stacking mastery for big numbers, but the reason I use all cheat possible to do a maximum damage in short time is to kill tanks and healers.
Some classes are really tanky and if we didn’t have hunters keeping people in check in BG, they’d be unkillable.
As much damage as we do, we are squishy, we’re the most glass-canon there is. As a hunter I also always prioritize other hunters.
People used to say that all the time about Destro Lock “Yea but you let them free casting in the back, of course he wiped the whole team”
Or mage when they Greater Pyro was almost 1 shotting people.
As you should. The biggest threat to the team should always be the first priority. Many of these “Nerf Hunter/warrior/mage/Blood DK/ret paladin”, while not totally off base, can mostly be translated to “I want to play random BG’s without having to think critically”
They expect all class to be homogenized. same dps, same cd, same healing.
lmao it still holds true in arenas lmaoooo
especially if u play cupid
Noticed mages are whining they’re being deleted by marksman in 3s, hopefully blizzard comes to their aid as usual, & does something about them, its not just that MM damage is obscene, (it is), the problem is the simplicity & ease they get it off.
Yes, Sthis. That was kind of the point. Both Alyrico and myself think the damage MM hunter does is way over the top. So, I’m going to post something like this when I see someone arguing that it isn’t. We aren’t trying to say that doing this kind of damage is skillful. It is more about knowledge.
However, there are hunters that don’t do this kind of damage, but the ones who know what they are doing definitely can.
Fire is pretty good against MM. I know I struggle even against undergeared fire mage.
This is true, a good fire mage who gets the drop on you can actually kill a MM hunter or, at the least, force defensive cooldowns very quickly.

No, you misunderstand. 200k is nothing. I can pull more than that in a group setting when the main target is weakened from an FC debuff on MANY classes. I’m not here saying that Hunters do not need a nerf. They do. I’m saying that the way we complain about OP classes is ludicrous.
While we are on that topic though, this wouldn’t be a “XYZ class is OP” complaint thread without someone posting a video of the following;
- Obliterating a Flag Carrier as the class in question
- Wrecking someone while buffed with zerker and every consumable known to man as the class
- Ending lives while buffed from orb as the class.
So thank you for completing this journey.
Okay, so how about this opening clip where I end up almost winning a fight against a 655K health warrior with me starting with 34K health? No berserker or consumables used there. If I had just had 10K more health to start this fight.
Warriors are hard to kill because they have plate armor!
MM hunter is OP when you can potentially kill fully geared warriors with explosive shot, death chakrams and rapid fire only while not using any consumables or berserker.
Not sure why there is this denial of reality.
Warrior pressed nothing and you did full burst minus trueshot. Any class can do that unironically. Was 123 tab targeting on my aff last night pulling 120k dps and nearly insta killing people left and right with soul swap oblivion.
Come on MMs, queue up in my lobbies, im getting bored seeing nothing but rets, fury warriors and mages.
The main difference being is that I can do the damage above from 74 yard range after a sniper shot on my hunter. Every other caster has to open themselves up to risk in order to do damage.
Elemental shaman scare me. Evokers too.
Cool video, I wouldn’t expect you to post any blunders or deaths in your “Look how awesome I am” video.
