MM hunter with pet and lone wolf hunter are not mutually exclusive class fantasies

I’ve played since 2004, I’ve tamed countless rare pets with unique skins and used them in various applications from solo content to pvp to m+ to raiding to delves. I’ve named pets after dogs IRL that have passed away. Please find a solution that solves the problems MM has has for a long time functionality wise (i.e. having to summon pet to bloodlust when you play lonewolf, having to use it for master’s call on some fights) WITHOUT taking away pets we’ve tamed over the last 20 years from those of us who still want to be able to use them. I don’t think you have to disregard one group to appease the other, there has to be a win/win solution - am I crazy for thinking that??

The only argument the no pets for mm have is that they don’t want others to have pets at all and they want no compromise like leaving the option of having pets in for old school mm players. I guess they just want us to all be cookie cutter characters with no choice. I for one never liked Sylvanas and never felt she was a real hunter class, but some npc only thing like Ranger. Blizzard could just go make a separate class for the Sylvanas fanboys if they were not so lazy. They can’t even fix bugs in the game that are years old.

The reality is those who vehemently dont want pets as an option at all and disagree with the people who want the option are purely people who get off on feeling superior and putting down others and get the most enjoyment if they know someone else is miserable.

There is no reason you cant keep pets AND have every other change planned. This is a situation where they actually CAN please everyone.

There is no honest defense of the position that isnt “It makes me happy that youre upset and that makes me better than you”.

True, they don’t really care if other MM hunters keep their pets as long as they can grief them somehow. Likely the same people who stand giant mounts on mailboxes or questgivers just to annoy people. Supporting people losing their hunter pets to an update is just another way of hurting people.

I remember similar vitriol when survival was being removed in legion
Bad actors come out of the woodworks to say that they’ve been waiting for this for years, i even recognize some of the names as teh same people, still not on a hunter mind you.
Think some people just want to see the class crash and burn tbh

as for a proposed solution, at least as a bandage if they really wanna trial this new theme: Let MM hunters summon pets in the world and non max level instanced content. Won’t affect the number tuning for raids/mythic+ and allows marksman players to still have access to their pets.

My argument is this … All class fantasy is subjective. No single opinion is any less valid than any other single opinion.

Whilst true 99% of the time I feel that an opinion IS less valid when its demanding removal of something that doesnt affect them in any capacity and that they dont play.

If they delete pets or allow us to keep pets the people who dont want them are literally unaffected and will receive a completely identical experience by simply not using a pet.

The only reason to support removing them is getting enjoyment from the fact other people are hurt by the change.

I don’t remember seeing anybody demanding that marksmanship Hunter lose its traditional pet before blizzard announced what they were doing.

The proposed change helps marksmanship in every way, except for having a pet to tank some damage for you/spin a node in pvp, and having a pet for companionship, and I understand a lot of people are attached to the pets that they’ve had for so long.

From a strictly pvp perspective where I don’t personally have any attachment to keeping my current pet use, the one issue I could see for me… if I am crowd controlled I likely would not also have a pet doing damage to spin a flag. So outside of potentially having a summoned temporary pet or lingering other ability or DoT affecting the flag area, taking a control the area from a hunter might be a bit easier.

Having more than double the MS strength(if not pvp nerfed) will be a nice change. Having what was otherwise traditional pet utility being moved to the hunter including a full strength Lust will be nice.

Poor pet pathing, despawning if too far from the hunter, having the pet die or pet utility fail to function if the pet is CCed, are issues 11.1 looks to address, but a more traditional pet remaining as an option for those that want that would not bother me.

It helps MM in every way for YOU

Having the utility without needing the traditional pet is ideal. If the regular pet was also a little physical damage boost and optional, I’d be on board with that.

This is what we are advocating for - a basic pet that can claw, bite, growl, dash and tank a mob when doing solo stuff. Add in a damage reduction so its not used in raid/M+ and you get all the changes they plan and the exact playstyle they plan but outside of raids and M+ you can keep your pet.

I’m totally for keeping a pet, like I don’t know why they removed it… But hasn’t the game evolved? There’s not much solo stuff left that needs a personal tank. It’s all been designed around the half-dozen+ other classes that don’t have access to a personal tank to begin with.

There’s elite mobs and delves and that’s about it. Delves can be done without a personal tank, people are doing them on other classes without an issue. Elites sometimes need a group, and that’s by design of the game. The fact Hunter could solo elites was already a little unfair.

solution is a 3rd ranged spec in the middle like we used to have

Yup while i never really like the aimed shot ln Mm… my actual class was survival in vanilal when it was ranged and i played him.up to the end of panda… i liked that i could use traps , play my pet a bit and not have to wait 3 hrs to unload a shot and standinng still doing it… then they decided to make it melee… so for everyone who really cant stand the bm playtstyle we had one choice mm which they changes a bit and gave the rapid fire and i could still have my pet do some utility in solo play… now remove pet from it and basically say to us sorry u want pets and use some kind of bow go bm… seriously come on …every posting ive seen so far is majority not wanting this … there has to be a way to keep the pet and still add thise changes…

The thing is because it can be done with absolutely zero impact on any aspect of the changes now or in the future there is just no reason not to keep them even if it’s just for flavor.

Hunter is owed a 4th spec at this point after the travesty that was the legion situation
That class designer got fired for a reason, it’s about time they fix their mistakes

reminder: just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s a mistake

Sure but making a change that has absolutely no positive benefit, has no impact other than to hurt a subset of players and changes literally nothing about the game other than hurting those players it’s objectively a mistake.

If there was a trade off where removing pets was the only way forward then yeah it would be a valid argument.

But this isn’t the case, there is no tradeoff, it’s just arbitrary and bad.

making sv was a positive benefit though. in dragonflight alone there was a marginal benefit where you would want more melee on something like tindral instead of more ranged. it was also a positive benefit to free up design space for both bm and mm. SV existing as mm with dots was just redundant.

(reminder thats what I was replying to)

so just because some folks dont like MM with a pet doesnt mean its a mistake, therefore, should not be removed? good
