Lmao basically people would rather settle asking for an illusion of getting stronger with the same end result and losing what they’ve already attained even though it’s only sentimental vs going with what we have now and asking for them to revamp the ability/talent system in a way that makes you get the same feeling of getting stronger but you’re actually getting stronger. Think mediocre got it.
A more RPG-like power progression system isn’t an illusion. Unless you only look at it from the top and not throughout the experience. In which case no one cares what you think because you’re not looking at the totality of it. And you seem to be confused and think that asking for something they’re clearly already intending to do is mutually exclusive with asking for revamps to other systems. You’re wrong there too. Do you have any position that’s substantive?
I also support the level squish for the same reasons, additionally it will make gearing up while leveling feel better, right now the gear you get while leveling doesn’t matter because it will be replaced in less than an hour by gear that is just barely better. Due to the stat squish the diff between level 6 and level 9 gear is almost non-existent. I rather have upgrades that are more spaced out but more impactful to my gameplay
I dont think this will fix all the problems, but im ok having the level cap reduced for the sake of a better leveling experience. I’m fully aware that the amount of time it takes to level will likely not change much if at all, but how that journey to max level feels matters, is not all about math, at least not to me.
Wait you’re asking for a position that’s more substantive but you’re claiming they’ve set their mind on the squish. Yet we have people in this very thread saying that nothing is at all official and it’s just all naysay. Can you be more pretentious or is that impossible?
I kinda hope they go through with it in the way you most fear. If “losing a number” is what it takes for you to lose your mind then this game isn’t really for you in the first place. How long did it take you to pick yerself up and move on from losing over millions in HP? Bet that was a rocky road.

I choose the illusion of progression while leveling over the illusion that the number 120 makes me more powerful.
I don’t even have the strength to keep arguing with them about every stupid decision they make. I think I’m done. Even Bellular thought this was a very bad idea.
And now we find out that this is what they are planning. This is what they’re doing. From a random questionaire.
“Are you aware that we’re taking your progression away someday soon”?
Lol. You can have it, Blizz. You win. I hope all of those millions of people out there who would be playing WoW if not for a crippling fear of three-digit numbers actually exist. Because this is going to be the final straw for many people…forum AstroTurf notwithstanding.
You may consider looking at how professions work. Perhaps they will work in a similar fashion. Perhaps you will be able to just go to a content and level via story progression and unlock say Legion after you do 2 sets of max level?
You realize you can’t because so many things are tied to achieving a certain level to be awarded something I.E. heritage armor
That could easily be changed to Do all story mode on x character. For example.
Wait you’re asking for a position that’s more substantive but you’re claiming they’ve set their mind on the squish.
If we assume the survey is authentic and are having a good faith discussion on what those potential changes mean, there’s nothing pretentious in saying they’re intending to do it because that’s exactly what the survey says. But I mean, when you can’t defend your point of view personally attack someone right? Might as well go with that fallacy when your other ones fail.
I mean, the very first question that prompted this was the following:
‘Are you aware that the maximum level of 120 will be reduced in the future (i.e., “Level Squish”)?’
That doesn’t say, ‘We’re thinking about reducing the level maximum.’ It doesn’t say, ‘We might reduce the level maximum.’ It says, and I quote, “the maximum level of 120 will be reduced in the future”. There’s nothing ambiguous about that. Unless you’re just really bad at English. Hell, it goes on to say “The new level cap will be dramatically lower than the current level cap of 120.”
Now, you can say you don’t believe the source, that there’s some missing context there that implies the proposed changes are hypothetical. I don’t believe that as I’ve seen it from numerous sources now and they all contain the same information. But I’d at least understand that position even if I disagree with it. But you’re not even doing that.
How would you award each ability/talent?
Me: Three digit numbers scare me!
Doctor: And you’re 100% sure about this?
Me: AHHHHHHHH!!!
Idk. For all I know it’s just a level squish. But if you see some of the systems now you can make some guesses. And give feedback towards what you want to maintain/ or can add now that’s early. I personally don’t care as long as I can solo old raids. That’s really all I care about and getting loot.
If they do the level squish properly it should be seamless and unnoticeable. Knowing blizzard though they will screw it up somehow.
I personally do not want a level squish. Stay at 120 for the future and find a new thing to grind and progress. Squish is not going to make leveling easier it is just a number…it is like X number of kills to reach endgame.
if you only gain 1-10 levels per expansion like you suggest I can’t even begin to imagine how long each of those levels would take and at what point you’d be able to solo the End raids for those expansion
See so your concern is with “Level pacing”. You can say if they make a level squish I hope it is “shorter” to gain the max level then it currently is.
As for my concern it is soloability of older raids and decent loot drops.
I know what youre saying I really do. But how would you even determine when you can solo each raid when you only gain 1-10 levels for that certain expansion?
That is for the devs to figure out! We can only discuss foreseeable issues and our feelings. You can offer a solution but that might not be the best thing in this case unless it’s really well thought out.
