Mistweaver Shadowlands

Invoke Chi’ji Ie: way of the crane now a pve talent should be the baseline invoke for mistweaver and yu’lon can be the talented version.

I love fist weaving and doing damage to heal mechanics and have missed more options to do this since losing the eminence passive. Crane is fun. Rising mist is fun.

Also, statue is the most boring talent in existence but will get taken in 99% of scenarios because it’s just that strong. Perhaps it should return baseline as well.

Toss in spear hand strike as a bonus and we’re off to the races.

THey just need to make way of the crane a stance again and stop this CD combat healing.

Fist weaving was so much fun.

I’m against this. As much as I want to be able to switch to an entirely different stance and heal through damage without any limitations I don’t think real balance between the two stances can be achieved. You saw the limitations a lot in WoD. The stacks of surging just were not good. Eminence only really covered low out going damage and surging was a poor way to keep tanks alive.

If my memory is incorrect then feel free to chime in but I remember a few scenarios where the current crane would have been far superior to what we had back then.

Being cooldown based allows it to scale in a way where it remains powerful, the base healing kit can remain strong, and the only real challenge we’re currently facing is that the cooldown was increased from 1m to 2m.

The swap of making the new talent baseline and putting Yu’lon in it’s spot instead I think is great.

I would love to see it become a bigger part of what we can do and bring to a raid or dungeon on a more consistent level with the boring healing cooldowns reserved for when we can’t get melee uptime due to mechanics or something.

Yea… as much as I’d like it to be a stance or passive, we’d end up like discipline priests that cant be properly balanced.

I agree. As much as i enjoyed eminence at the time and in its original state, i also fear what implementing something entirely passive would do in the current state of the game. I think actively moving the spec towards active decisions like way of the crane and the rising mist synergy is the stronger direction for the spec. There’s more depth to it and i think it’s easier to balance. (look at disc problems)

I’m not trying to have a case of “the grass is greener” but at the moment Mistweaver in Alpha feels like it’s drawing the short straw when compared to other healers; especially if you are a mistweaver that prefers the fistweaving side of the spec. Expel and ToD are nice additions but what feels bad is that currently on live we can have both statue and crane. On alpha you have to choose and even worse yet, choosing crane means giving up the new cool down button we’re getting because it gets replaced by the talent.

It genuinely surprises me that statue didn’t make it onto this build baseline as it was an ability we had baseline in the past, but it is also a talent that picks itself in 99% of situations already despite being the most boring of the three options. Maybe it should move baseline and that row gets reevaluated because it never made sense to me why there was a single target throughput increase next to two aoe throughput talent choices anyways.

I hope that rising mist /wotc style healing is competitive in 9.0. My monk will be parked if it isn’t because the other build is so slow and boring to me and I’m having a blast on my monk atm.

I use Rushing Jade Wind for everything

You’re right, which is why they should just focus entirely on making Mistweaver a melee dps healing spec and tell Glimmer Paladins to F off. Everything about the Mistweaver kit fit perfectly in melee. Now it’s just a gimmick. What’s the point of an extremely high mobility healer when you’re just sitting at range anyway.

They should make the damn dragon dance and swirl around as a constant effect for 8/10 Mistweaver spells then I’m completely sold and wouldn’t play another class for awhile. A bit like Lili in HotS but more hardcore, like add a little Hanzo and Genji, lol.

Every time I heal someone I wanna feel like I’m smacking them with the Dragon Subduing 18 Palm.

These are some changes for Mistweaver that I’d like to see in Shadowlands:
