I’m really pushing for KSH, but it’s becoming increasingly stressful in +10 keys. So far, I’ve only timed two keys, and those were with 2500+ IO players. Most dungeon bosses feel like non-stop stressful, butt-clenching healing moments. The pattern is always the same: a soft DoT/AOE that you must top off before a killer DoT/AOE, all while dodging mechanics and running around.
I’ve tried melee fistweaving as well. It’s super for trash mobs and AOE maintenance healing, but I find it even harder to handle boss fights compared to a casting Mistweaver build.
At this point, it’s been a grind just to complete four M+10 keys for the vault. I’m not sure I’ll be able to push for eight keys to max out the rewards this week…
Idk how the spec works since i last played it (BFA), but its a matter of practice and knowing when to use your CDs when it comes to healing.
But its not always your fault when things go wrong, at 10s more than anything, everyone should be doing their best to stay alive, specially the DPS, by interrupting, CCing and using defensives, aka, making your job easier.
Some bosses are definitely rough, such as Izo from CoT, but lots of the bosses become significantly easier when everyone knows what theyre doing and using defensives when needed.
Regardless, just keep practicing and youll get the hand of it, unless youre playing with idiots healing doesnt need to be super stressful.
If you are puging my lil gnomie it will be unfun most of time. On bosses you have to use your whole toolkit don’t forget you have empowered jade lightning for moments you cant get close in to whack boss it can be stacked 3 times and used back to back also it is so strong when used on big add groups. Good luck out there.
You really do have to know when to ramp your heals as a caster focused MW. That said, it really sounds like the groups you’re healing aren’t great - MW is more than capable of 10s right now, as both healing styles. I accidentally healed a 12 as fistweaver, and it went smoothly until a party wipe bricked the key midway through. The group I had was great about locking down the mobs though, and there wasn’t that much to stress over. Don’t give up, you’ll get there.
You don’t have to do heal checks with fist weaving.
I’m running rushing wind kick for dmg.
I’m doing the bare minimum for healing RN with the soothing mist follows env mist talent and a single point in sheilun for occasionally burst cleave heal which I rarely use.
You just env mist ramp the 3 DPS then vivify/zen pulse and it’s usually handled. I can ignore myself because of healing elixirs and expel harm and leech which is chill af. If Chi-Ji is up just pop for group bubble then do giga mastery procs.
I feel like classic fistweaving for healing a big healing check is a trap because it’s completely spread amongst 5 people and you could unexpectedly be zoned out from melee. I personally only like Jadefire Teachings if I was running proliferating, but still just feels tedious. It’s by far the best for chill maintenance and spot healing random dmg though for sure
From last night, the final boss in Siege of Boralus was a real challenge. I could barely find time or space to move into melee range. Putrid Waters hit hard repeatedly, dodge waves, heal SLAM. Then came the negative absorb affix this week, and before I could catch my breath, Putrid Waters again. Guaranteed one death if everyone is hoping platform because people are out of range.
The second boss in Dawnbreaker too. After the massive explosion from Dark Orb, I had to quickly heal everyone up, only to be hit by the pulsing damage of Shadow Decay. Sometimes these mechanics overlapped, butt clenching heals. On repeat, I had to top off Dark Orb to survive Shadow Decay, then top off Decay to survive Orb.
last boss was particularly hard before the nerfs; I do a hybrid build that has both fist and mist combined; I really don’t think it was designed with fistweaving in mind, but if you must: there are planks in the water near the first and third tentacle that you can punch from and heal. At those planks, you will also be free to not have to look at the ground as closely because the swirlies don’t hit the planks. That way, you can physically see who the dots are heading for. Reminder here that Diffuse Magic works as a dispel for yourself, and casting it before the dot comes in does not affect how hard the initial hit goes for. You dispel one person, cocoon the other if the slam is coming up, and top the person off. Don’t be afraid to back off and just focus on SooM healing, as Peer into Peace is probably my favorite talent ever.
Also, consider trying to get ahold of Corrupted Egg Shell from Grim Batol; it basically gives us a 2nd chi cocoon that we can rotate between, 1.5 min cd. Here’s the macro I use that works well for it:
/castsequence [@mouseover,help,nodead,spec:2] reset=75 Life Cocoon, 14
As for 2nd boss in Dawnbreaker, using Thunder Focus Tea with Renewing Mist for the haste buff, then Peer into Peacing 3 enveloping mists out will give you a lot of chi harmonies and mending proliferations to top everyone off quickly before the pulsing damage. Always save your defensives and healing cds (Yu’lon + Revival + Conduit if you use that) for that pulse, as that is the deadliest part of the fight. Also, if you take Jade Empowerment talented with Ancient Teachings, you can use Crackling Jade Lightning on the adds when they pop up for some mega ultra UUUUUUUUNNNNNNNLIIIIIIIIMLITED POWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH healing.
This guy is really tough though, and your right that things can line up bad. I also can fall behind and get overwhelmed with him. Leg Sweep is your friend for those adds so they can’t get their casts off.
You should dps demolishing tenta it is easy to avoid most of stuff unless group is all melee and do mistweaving heals when they swap to griping. Dispel one target make priority of dispelling squishy classes focus heal other if putrid water is on tank, tank should be able to just take it without anything special, devouring afix is whole groups mechanic majority of classes can cleanse themselves you should absolutely not have to spam heal trough afix. Also you have mass dispel when things get out of hand.
On that orb in down breaker make sure you have everyone toped off before it explodes and dps must use defensive or self heal also if orb is not positioned perfectly it can wipe half group when it explodes. For shadow decay pulse you will have to pop one of major cd crane, revival, celestial conduit, or in case you don’t have anything up empower jade lightning for aoe burst heal it may be enough to stabilize group.
If the healer doesnt have the dot, they can much easily focus on healing the others, and like you said, unless the tank screwed up big time, they can handle the dot easily, making them lowest priority.
But yeah, like other have said, the way you play healer is by learning the dmg phases of the boss fights and using your CDs then, more specifically, what to use, the orb for example doesnt do as much dmg (unless some idiot aims it at the wall), but the Pulse dmg will wipe the party if not healed/mitigated, so you can use small burst of healing for the orb, and a mayor CD for the Pulse.
On my monk passive heling potion and expel harm with fistweaving is usually enough to sustain myself ,i mostly make sure to focus on shamans evoker or hunter in group for some reason mail users are so squishy.
If you’re running mending prolif you want to actually get a fat extended env mist off on the tank before you need to ramp for AOE.
The spread buff duration is based on the env mist it came from and won’t apply to allies that have env mist already.
Env mist tank
Rsk
Vivify tank
14s env mist
Spreads prolif to DPS
AOE about to start
Ramp env mist on DPS
Renewing Mist people missing chi harmony
Do x3 healing for AOE.
AOE coming in 8 seconds, get 4 stacks of teachings, ramp 2evenlopings/chi harmonies, extend with rsk before AOE, pop chiji, drop blackout stacks, put another enveloping, extend with rsk, sheilun’s gift, random spot heals.
No chiji, pop defensive, cacoon someone, drop enveloping/chi harmony=easy 2 DPS triage.
I wish I could empathize here, but I just recently started gearing up my Mistweaver and it’s quickly become the most enjoyable and most fun healer (up there with Voidweaver Disc). Both hero talents are viable and competitive. My 610 MW is doing more damage than my 624 Holy Paladin/Resto Shaman, too. I think it has one of the best toolkits in the game currently, and the new empowered Jade Lightning looks and feels amazing to use.
I run MoH fistweaveing with a soothmist and pear into Peace for ST healing! You have chi chi every minute for big Aoe on ST sheiluns gift for AOE st and revival! Crackling jade for aoe and save CDs for boss fights! And always take advantage of any cleave for jade empowerment buff for big healing on boss fights! It’s a little juggling with Cds. I don’t have any issues healing on 10s
