So, I hopped on the PTR to give stuff a try and I noticed a few things seem to be different than on the 3.x client.
- Items you can interact with (herbs, doodads) don’t have a sparkle. (Added in 2.3)
- You cannot link quests in chat (Added in 2.4)
- Quests cannot be shared with party members by linking in party chat. You just get uninteractable text like in TBC. (Added in 3.0.2).
- Displaying item level used to be an option in Interface > Display, but is now missing in WotLKC. (Added in 3.2)
- Vendor prices are only listed when at a vendor, rather than all the time. (Added in 3.2)
- Quest tracking feature. Blizzard mentioned that after originally planning to not implement it, they reversed their decision and were working on it, along with the calendar feature. Calendar and equipment manager have been implement, but not quest tracking. (Added in 3.3)
- You cannot view different levels of a multilayered zone on the map unless you’re in that area (for example, dalaran vs dalaran sewers. (Added in 3.3)
- Item Comparisons don’t seem to be implemented (being able to hold shift on a piece of gear and compare which has more agi, int etc). (Couldn’t see when this was added, but it was in by 3.3.5a at least)
But, we’re getting:
- The preview talent feature in phase 1 (originally introduced in Ulduar).
- Doubled paned quest log. (Originally added in 3.2)
- “Dungeon & Raid Difficult Display: A group’s dungeon or raid difficulty setting will now be displayed via an icon off of the mini-map.” (Originally added in ICC/3.3.0).
- As well as “Experience earned for a quest will display in the Quest Rewards section.” (Also in ICC/3.3.0)
With how close WotLK is to being live, think these will end up coming later on? Or is Blizzard just silently cutting these UI enhancements from WotLKC?
