Missing Ring

Full details:
Sunday I complete the 4 mythics and receive a 213 ilvl ring, much rejoicing as it replaced a 194 in my tank gear. I logged out in my tank gear.
Tuesday I log in and my gear and spec are both resto/pvp and my ring is gone. It doesn’t show up on recoverable items and it just looks like my character was reset to Saturday night after I did my pvp. What’s going on?

That is a completely different issue from the topic of this discussion. You should open a new thread because it’s unlikely you’ll get any attention piggybacking on an unrelated one.

Actually, one of the Support Forum Agents has separated your post into its own thread, so it can get the attention it should. Which is awesome. :+1:

I’m not certain what your issue had to do with that quest reset thread, Hrakoth, so I moved it to its own thread.

I’m a little unclear on what you are suggesting, Hrakoth. It feels like you are suggesting someone may have logged into your account, changed your spec/gear, and removed a ring?

From what I can see, access to this WoW license hasn’t changed at all for a while. This suggests either you changed your spec/gear/lost the ring and forgot, didn’t receive the item you thought you did (and may have switched specs for some reason or another), or someone in your household had access to your account.

It would probably help to know what the ring was called, but I did a search of your inventory, including items recently vendored, disenchanted, or deleted, and I’m not seeing a 213 ring. You received a Splintered Heart of Al’ar 213 trinket, and most recently the Far Traveler’s Shoulderpads, but I’m not seeing a ring.

Well I doubt anyone broke into my home, hacked my computer, and logged into my account. Pre-covid / work from home days I guess it would be possible but I work from home now. What I was suggesting is that somehow my character was reset to Saturday evening when I logged out after pvp. It’s not a big deal I guess I will get a ring soon enough again. Thanks for checking but if the character was reset then the ring will not appear anywhere because I didn’t vendor or disenchant it.

Character “resets” aren’t really a thing.

Data is continually written to a database - it’s possible the data didn’t get to the database in time but at that point, it means large numbers of people were affected (e.g. a sudden crash or a bad database migration).

And anything that would’ve rolled your character back three days would have been a massive issue, and the forums would likely still be on fire.

It kinda sounds to me that what you remember being a 213 ring was, in actuality, a trinket and you are simply misremembering.

Character’s aren’t exactly saved on an individual basis like that, like a console saved game. Data loss is not unheard of but I’ve never seen it on an individual basis, only when an entire realm suddenly went offline. In that situation you may see characters losing some progress, but it would be all characters that were online at the time.

The most logical option is that you received the trinket or shoulder item and not a ring. I might be able to dig a bit deeper, if you recall what what you received the item from (e.g. a specific boss, a cache, etc…), but this would be mostly satisfying a curiosity at this point. Sorry I couldn’t shine more light, Hrakoth.
