Hi I am returning to wow after 10 or so years. I have noticed that many of my characters names have been changed and have random letters and numbers. I also noticed some mounts on my main character seem to be missing and some achievements have been rolled back. I noticed this when looking through my mounts and not seeing mechano hog or the vial of sands which i know i had purchased from the auction house before i was no longer able to play. My mount collection says i have 116 mounts but counting through and looking at the mountain o mounts achievement ( which used to be completed) it seems to only count 78.
I submitted a ticket and the auto reply said to try asking on the forums so here I am asking on the forums.
Well for the toon names names get released every couple of expansion so if u have been away that long that would explain the odd letters and numbers when u log back in that will prompt u to rename possibly the same name. As for the mounts did u transfer ur toons to another account that would explain the missing mounts any BOA stay with the original account and dont transfer
This can fluctuate depending on the character you’re looking at it too. It shows different counts for me when I’m looking at it through my paladin:
Versus a Horde druid:
But it does remain the same if you’re looking at it through the achievement counter:
The first thing I would suggest you do is log in to each individual character so that the data can repopulate itself. If it’s been that long, it probably just needs you to cycle through your characters, get them renamed and logged into.
If you’re still missing achievements and such, you can try submitting another ticket in regards to those. You can submit that ticket here:
You will likely receive another templated response at first - that is to be expected. What you do though, is click the option to the tune of “I still need help”, and it will kick your issue up to be reviewed by a GM. Also, pay no mind to whatever turnaround estimation time it may list if it’s something crazy. It’s just that, based on an overall estimation. Not your specific ticket.
As to your names, as Darth said, they do release names every couple of expansions. You can try to rename them what they used to be, if those names are available once more, but it’s likely you’re going to have to come up with alternative names to be able to play those characters.
As already mentioned, if you are gone a significant amount of time your character names may be freed up for reuse. Now, if no one has used the name in your absence, you are free to reuse it yourself - but if they have, you’ll just want to pick another name.
As to the mounts. I’m not seeing either of these in your shared list.
There could be a couple reasons for that given how long you’ve been gone.
You may have had another Battlenet account and they just aren’t on this license, although I’m not readily finding another. Given the age of this - it could even be another license pre-Battlenet that was never on one.
If this was pre-collections, if these mounts exist on a character and were never included in your shared list - you’d need to access that character to do so.
I do show 128 on your shared list, just not these two.
Just to point out also, the mount count only shows what is able to be used for that specific character. For example, if you have mounts that are horde only but your looking at the count on an alliance character, they won’t be included in the count or they may be tied to reputation.
This is why Paladins are the optimal mount count class. They get three distinct Legion class mounts, the two classic Charger mounts (or their race’s equivalent), and the Argent Tournament mount.
Hi Orlyia,
Thanks for the clarification I have been going through and started to rename the characters that had the name change.
As for the mounts, I left before the collections tab was implemented and I have been using the character that had these mounts. I do not have an alternate account and my collections tab still only says I have 122 mounts. I’m not sure how I would access missing mounts.
I will be leaving this issue to the ticket resolution and the GMs at Blizzard. As for now, I’m just thankful I didn’t lose the Time lost proto-drake.
I presume you are referring to the total mount achievement. That one can be a little tricky.
To get the most credit - you’ll want to be on a character that may have single character mounts. For instance, if you had any class mounts from back in the day that only one character can access, that only counts if you are on THAT character.
