Missing Hunter Pets

I have a hunter I am leveling. After getting them prepped (geared, consumable, etc.) I sat them down in the main city to get their rested exp filled up before I started leveling.

I go to level them tonight and they’re missing their pet. I checked the stable and other pet slots on my hunters. No pets. It is gone. So I decided to see what can be done. I found this:

Modern World of Warcraft

If your pet is missing, you may have abandoned it in error. You may contact us to restore it. Before you do, please use the Whistle again to see if the pet is there and make sure you’re using the correct one to summon, and visit the Stable Master to see if your pet is in the stable.

Character’s Allied race so the are created with their pet, and they are in “Modern” World of Warcraft.

So I submitted a ticket. Got a broiler plate reply that redirects me to Support Article (which that direct me to contact support), Wowhead (which nothing there can assist me), and the forums (why I am here). My ticket was set to resolve and I am unable to reopen it to actually get assistance.

I am worried about submitting another and resulting in possible consider harassing or spamming the system. Any help would be nice.

There is some odd trend where tickets that normally would give an option to the tune of “I still need help” that would kick the ticket back into the system for GM review, isn’t giving that option. The templated response you received isn’t abnormal, there is a great deal that a player can do that does not require tickets, but they still submit them anyway.

Your case though is one of those that would require the GM’s assistance. Absolutely submit another ticket, referencing your original ticket # and that you had to create a new ticket due to your original one not allowing you to resubmit it for escalation. Most of the cases of harassment and spamming come from those who just keep ticketing in attempts of getting that “right” GM. In your case, you should be safe to submit again, especially since your issue is one we’ve seen quite a bit here lately, with the ticket locking you out from escalating it.

I’m not sure under which path you submitted your first ticket, but the best path I’ve seen suggested was this one:

I do wish you luck!

Hey thanks for the reply. I wasn’t sure if there was something going on preventing the “Still need help”, or if that it wasn’t there because the issue could not be resolved at all.

I have gone ahead and opened a new ticket. Hopefully, a GM might be able to at least let me know where my pet went. I haven’t had one run away since they removed the happy meter. Also it wouldn’t have too much of an issue, but it’s their starting pet. When leveling hunters their pet plays a big role in their “personality”. So losing it feels really bad.

did you do something like change spec, making the pet/s unavailable?

I want to say that it is in the realm of possibility, especially with it being the starter pet for an allied race. It’s only when you get into Classic iterations that they don’t even give it a ‘maybe’, just that they’re completely hands-off.

And in case you haven’t seen, ticket times right now are a bit atrocious, so just be forewarned you’ll not likely receive a quick response. You may get one that is clearly marked as automated, and again giving you all the links to try and fix the issue yourself. That isn’t a slight against you, it’s just like I mentioned above, that a lot of issues can be resolved by the players themselves if they take the time to look into things. They just send those out in especially high ticket times to give players the chance to avoid the ticket queue when it’s applicable.

Also to note, please pay no mind to the time estimated on your ticket. Yes, they will fluctuate. Yes, I think I’ve seen them ranging from 15-25 days per other folks trying to get issues resolved. While ticket times are high, they’re not that high.

Perhaps one of our SFAs will peek their head in in the morning when they get back into the office. I want to say I saw once in the past where they could see if a specific pet was abandoned or whatnot. That may have changed, mind you, but I’m crossing my fingers that perhaps you’ll manage an answer while you wait on your ticket to be handled by a GM.

Nope, BM from the start. The pet was the pet that comes with the race upon creation. So changing specs shouldn’t cause it not to be usable as if it was an exotic pet, and it wasn’t a special type that needs extra skills like direhorns, mechs, or undead.

Yeah, I saw a lot of the posts about the times (it’s stating 17 days right now). That’s not an issue for me. Figure they would get to me when they did. Auto replies tend to be normal with high loads of tickets. Helps to weed out those that need further help from those that could normally resolve it themselves. My main concern was resending a ticket to a “resolved” one being seen as harassment since in the past there was the “Need more help” that was not there this time.

Thanks again. Hopefully I can get this resolved, or at least figured out what happened to the pet.

It wont be 17 closer to a week.

No - that’s not what is considered spamming the ticket system, Noedesha.

Spamming is typically an appeal that is made over and over again because the answer isn’t the one the player wanted to hear. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not sure on this one - I don’t see this either, just two current pets - bears.

Your ticket is open, although not very old.

Thank you for taking a look, Orlyia. The 2 bears are temporary, which I tamed so I could at least level while I waited on the ticket. Hopefully, we can find her pet. If not, I’ll start looking for a new permanent leveling buddy for her to level with.

Just out of curiosity, which allied race is it that you’re leveling there?

She’s a Dark Iron Dwarf. It appears they are unable to find the pet. No sign of it being abandoned or anything, and won’t be able to return or replace it.

I can replace it by taming a Smoldering Bonemauler, but they require level 50+, which defeats the purpose of it being a leveling pet.

I am working on getting all the heritage armor, so using hunters to get all the Allied races to 50. So have a nice … um … little army of hunters. I’ve gone through all of them and all of them still having their pets. So assuming (hoping) it’s a fluke.

Gottcha! And ya, I was going to look and see if there was any pet you could tame as a replacement as a worst case scenario, but seems you’ve already got that looked into. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that’ll be able to get them back!

Looks like they won’t be able to replace him. They said the he is, “just simply not on your list”. I don’t know if that means he’s been gone for too long he’s not showing up in records (e.g. like items do), or that it’s like he never existed at all. Either way they don’t have the ability (or tools) to be able to grant a pet to a hunter, which is sad I can’t get him back, but I knew that was a possibility.

Knowing that it was a chance, I have been looking for a lower level replacement, and think I might go for Vargul Blighthound as a replacement. It’s a level 20-30 and still a hound. I had considered a flame hound, but they require Simple Tome of Bone-Binding, and that once again would required being 50+.

I am very grateful for them to look into this, and try to get him back for me. As well as getting a response to me much sooner than I was expecting considering the current ticket load they are experiencing.

I’m sorry that there wasn’t the desired response here. If nothing else, with the XP buff, leveling goes a lot quicker right now, so should you choose to go for the flame hound later on, it’s not too far off!

What I figured I’d end up doing. I could tame one to keep in the stables once I reach taming leveling. Just won’t be her primary leveling pet.

Who knows, maybe this is a good thing. Maybe she’ll like her new pet more.

I just went to my stable and half of my pets are all missing. Just empty slots.

I would recommend logging out, completing a Full UI Reset (link below) and seeing if that corrects the issue. Hunter pets don’t tend to get up and leave on their own

Looks to be about 30 stabled.

Since this is a 2 yr old thread I’m going to lock it. A proper reset UI would be my first suggestion as well.
