Both are good choices. However, Mining will probably be the bigger moneymaker in TBC because of the demand for ores/bars for Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting.
Whereas now, with the changes to Battle/Guardian elixirs, players cant stack multiple potion effects, so the demand for potions/elixirs for raiding will be compartively lower at Level 70 than it was at Level 60.
Herb - cause everyone needs flasks/pots
Eh.
Destruction and Haste potions will always sell.
I imagine more so when the content starts to get a bit harder for people.
Really eh??
Roll a druid and go both.
Key assign shift spacebar to toggle between the two and get ready to make $$$$
yes, both. do both.
Potions, flasks and transmutes will continue to be needed well through TBC’s lifecycle. Ore will gradually decline in value, as more and more people finish crafting the gear they were aiming for.
Both mining and herbs will net you serious gold. upwards 5K gold per week in some cases with plenty of nodes and minimal effort.
I like herbalism from the standpoint that you can farm your consumables, but that’s just me.
You should check your servers prices to get an idea. Terocone is wild expensive, but not sure if you’ll succeed in farming it. People were saying 120g on their server and I didn’t believe them, but it’s like 80g for mine which is sitting at a 1.4k ironforge estimated population so mega servers are higher.
Edit: the old druid dual gatherer isn’t a bad idea either, but they aren’t gonna be mega OP until they get epic flight form.
False. The demand for xmutes drops off significantly past p1, Flasks plummet in P2 thanks to freebie tokens dropping in raids, Potions are still solid throughout.
False, it will stay steady because people need gems upto MH and BT, and with the drop rate on gems being low from trash and a crapshoot from the nodes people will need filler gems while they wait for epics. It’s not until the SWP patch that gems are available for badgers.
Just calling it like it was back in the day. I dropped BS/mining for enchanting and herbalism, as I couldn’t afford to buy the potions/flasks or the mats to make them. Potions were always steady over time. Flasks may have dropped a bit, but were still costly. Herbs like mana thistle, nightmare vine and terrocone always seemed to sell quite well.
Primal mights did drop, but since they were frequently used in high end crafted gear, there was still a demand.
By the end of the xpac, even gems dropped significantly in price (People farmed up enough epic gems from heroics, I suspect.)
That was because of sunwell patch. You did Kara + heroics to farm badges for your gems to put into raid gear. Once the badge gems were out blue quality gems tanked along with the addy market but they still sold steadily.
Heroic epic gems are unmitigateable trash in 90% of the cases.
Maybe it varied by server. By the end of the xpac, I was sitting on heaps of uncut blue quality gems and just had a friend cut them for me. In the rare chance I ran out of a certain color, the uncut gems sold for nothing on the AH. The only gems that held any value on my server were the meta gems.
The addon TrackingSwitcher is so much nicer. Especially after you set the switching time to 12-15 seconds.
yup at the end, not for 4/5ths of the games life. Mining is probably the most stable gathering profession of them all with JC being the most profitable over the long term.
Both mining and herbalism are absolutely dreadful right now. There are so many people flying around that it is almost impossible to find materials. Ore and herb prices are absolutely in the bin which is good for most of us but terrible for the farmers themselves.
Check out some paladin farms on youtube. You will be surprised.
As a bear tank night elf, my profession is mail box dancing and telling bear puns. My highest tip for selling bear puns in 10G in Classic vanilla.
