TLDR: No dragon skip in HoI. Don’t think it impacts any other dungeon.
Expecting them to make the BH cages to open next if there’s mobs nearby to stop people from Mind Soothing + opening.

I don’t really think the answer is to nerf shadow just to make disc and holy look better by comparison.
I’d rather they bring priest healers in line with the others. Priests have been weak for a while as far as healers go. They heal, but that’s all they do. The utility is quite lackluster
Disc used to have damage, but that’s been nerfed to the point they get out dps’ed by other healers.
Priests just don’t bring anything good as healers, and the few things they do bring, Shadow has access to, all while being an S tier dps spec for M+. Shadows utility however hasn’t changed for years. We didn’t get anything new this expansion, Blizzard just happened to design the dungeons in a way that makes our niche utility very strong.
Overall there just isn’t a reason to let a priest heal your group when all other options are better
What we’re seeing now are just knee jerk reactions after a WoWhead post one month after the god comp already ran supreme before they were nerfed. These nerfs should have been done AGES ago including not releasing blatantly overtuned classes in a mid-season patch.
I don’t disagree that Disc/Holy need more utility. I’m just pointing out that what little utility they bring is being chiseled away because people stacked Shadow Priests as FOTM.
I think the best thing we can do is stop queueing for dungeons. I mean what’s the point at this point? Realize you are not going to hit 3300 or 3500 or 3700 this season and just do something else. There are other things in the game to enjoy. Let them keep running their god comp exposing the fact that there are multiple disparities across the M+ system. I bet they will fix the issues when they need healers again.
Sorry, I’m usually not a cynic but all these kneejerk reactions since Augmentation was released are not helping the fundamental issues before all of us.
STOP HEALING NOW!
I think all we need is a WoWhead article about Holy/Disc and we’d get buffed the next day.
I kinda of wish they’d just change the functionality: remove the aggro radius reduction and make Mind Soothe an actual soothe that removes rage mechanics.
Other classes have soothe, so priest wouldn’t be bringing something unique, but it’d still have utility - especially in dungeons where nothing is humanoid/dragonkin anyway. Also, this way we could trivialize both bursting and raging!
Edit: I suggested this tongue-in-cheek, but apparently Mind Soothe’s current functionality (reduce aggro radius) is also how druid sooth (which now dispels enrage mechanics) used to work.
Soothe Beast, was only targetable on beasts, instant cast, and reduced the range at which they would attack by 10 yards
So there’s precedent!
You can still skip the last pack, you can’t skip the 2 dragons beforehand. I think you pull 1 with the frog and make a big pull with the other one and cut back on some stuff in the 1st / 2nd area to make up for it. It’s probably still pretty efficient it’s just noticeably more dangerous.
I’m sitting on a +27 HoI key and I honestly have no idea when I should even attempt it because people need to figure out the new route and Blizzard could drop some nerfs on that dungeon.
Does this mean you can’t mind soothe skip rock jump stink breath anymore? Or do you not even need mind soothe for the rock skip on him?
I can’t remember if they have true sight or not. You can still get by without mind soothe or somebody can pull them and vanish.
I want to say stinkbreath has true sight but now I am not sure.
Can’t soothe skip, need to invis / vanish / meld
Can still do cages though without issue.
If you fade you can walk by Stinkbreath as well. It’s usually what I do.
Oooo ok! I think I have done that with mind soothe and fade. Didn’t know soothe wasn’t needed.
Also, I am curious if not being able to skip dragons in HoI will make people grumble more about priests having mass dispel.
You do cages with mind soothe??
They nerfed the dragons dot, but not the initial hit which is where the bulk of the damage comes from anyway. They still haven’t nerfed a lot of the other things where Mass Dispel is needed like in Uldaman.
Yes, you can solo open cages with Mind Soothe, and Fade. If you’re sneaky enough you can drop Mind Soothe on the trash pulls by the tank and walk around and open the cage without getting into combat.
A lot of the most optimal routes in BH involve literally skipping the bulk of the initial area (which have a lot of casters that can one-two shot people) and making up for it in the gauntlet. You just have the Priest open all the cages and they can use an item from an Aug Evoker that lets you teleport to them.
Here I am playing novice level, that is super ninja coolness. Now I have a new goal in there. I am positive I will fail a bunch at first but will feel like a rockstar when I finally get it figured out.
Thanks for the tips!
Also, when you say you make up % in the gauntlet, does that mean you pick up % before last boss by entering the gauntlet from the top?
You have to be at about 85-88% before the Tree Boss. You’re skipping probably 15-20% trash in the first area so the tank just has to pull a lot more in the gauntlet. The trash is a lot less dangerous than the 1st area and the only thing you need to worry about are stacking bleed dots.
Anyone else notice that when you soothe mobs that can no longer be soothed it pulls them? It did this to me in BH last night. Is this a bug?
I have not encountered this, you may have been too close as well.
