why would it be sad?
Most people think bethesda has been on a down ward spiral for a few years now.
Microsoft buying them can’t really be much worse at this point.
Because Microsoft is going to force the end of free modding in favor of pushing paid stuff in the next title, guaranteed.
No free modding in a Bethesda title, games dead to me.
You gotta be kidding me. Bethesda was the one trying to kill the free modding community with their Creation Club bs, suing modders and stealing community’s free mods to sell it as microtransactions. Microsoft buying Bethesda is good news since MS has been a good company for the last 5 years or so. They’re not EA, not even Activision Blizzard, just compare AOE 2 Remaster with WC3 Refunded. Huge difference.
Microsoft is definitely going to fix many things at Bethesda.
Nice try, Todd.
Like they did with Minecraft?
Seriously though, it will all be fine. Microsoft, for the moment, is just becoming the new parent company.
Technically they bought ZeniMax, which owns Bethesda.
Just saying.
Nah, this means Obsidian and Bethesda now share a parent company.
That means Obsidian now has free reign to make any Fallout game they want.
New Vegas 2!
Lol.
Microsoft is all about the money. ALLLLLL about the money.
if you expect anything less than an expansion of the Creation Club, then I’m sorry. Because that’s what’s going to happen.
It’s garbage.
Ya’ll can be as optimistic as you want, but I don’t trust MS further than I can throw them. They’ve always been greedier than Uncle Scrooge.
wait, and providence equity (the previous majority owners of zenimax) isn’t greedy? They tossed the original Bethesda founder out of the company and made him a minority owner with little to no say. MS is no different then EA, Activision, Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Corsair, etc., MS purchased Zenimax for their streaming portfolio of exclusive games.
Well that’s the main point of businesses right? Make money. That’s why they’re called business and not charity. Money is the main goal of MS, Blizzard and your local convenience store.
Microsoft is at least better than Activision, EA or Blizzard.
Wow they now own doom and halo. Sony is dead
don’t forget pillars of eternity but Sony will be fine. They both need to worry about about google, amazon, apple, and facebook (all of whom have streaming services in the works)
I know people have their issues with MS handling Windows, but as a game developer I actually don’t mind them at all. Maybe we may actually get to see an Elder Scrolls 6, before Besthesda decides to port Skyrim to a TI calculator .
I’m really more concerned about making Bethesda games exclusive to Xbox and PC, or at the very least have initial exclusive rights for a year or so.
I also know Sony will be fine. They have far more games keeping them safe than FPS’s. A lot of games I’m into on their console are either exclusives, on Switch, or on Steam. So I’m not even worried about those others getting into streaming services.
Google Stadia failed, and Apple well, we’ll see how they do. But doubt it.
Sony really need a strong FPS IP, because while Xbox really only have FPS games, there are millions upon millions of FPS players vs platform and others.
I have a rough time playing any fps games on controller
Google stadia is still up and running so not sure how you came to that inaccurate conclusion…and let’s remember there were countless articles of Netflix incoming failure once they ditched DVDs. It’s not a situation where any of these companies are looking to even turn a profit out of the gate. They just don’t want to be left out of a market with limited seats, like blockbuster. Clearly it’s a major market of interest if the largest companies in the world are investing billions into it.
I don’t like controller games to begin with outside of an occasional sports games.
There’s some games I like better on controller.
I use my Xbox One controllers for most JRPGs, action games like Dark Souls, RDR2, Code Vein, Bloodstained, MK11, etc.
FPS, western RPG, MMO, and strategy games for sure kb/mouse.
