Microsoft integrated billing

Be aware, blizzard is obtaining credit card information from microsoft. This was not stated by blizzard, at any point. My account sub was cancelled in october 2025, they billed me may first. Funny thing is…My credit card is from January. Number, CVC and Expiry Date are NOT in blizzards billing system.

(for reference, mods, i am not asking for a refund as any reverse charges would have my blizzard account BANNED. I am simply bringing it to attention that this is a practice microsoft and blizzard have put in without notification)

is it the same credit card with just a new expiry date and CVC

or a completely different credit card

last 4 dont match on blizzards service. Microsoft integrated billing
and in canada, with visa debit, it doesnt matter. if you dont have the correct expiry/CVC, its unauthorized.

Blizzard more than likely has access to Visa Account Updater and your new expiry/CVC is accessible to them without you doing anything

but it doesn’t explain why it has access to a completely different card

thats why im bringing it to the attention of users. If your account is assigned to an Xbox account, they can use the Xbox billing information, Xbox has my correct information. I have now removed my card from both due to their billing changes. If I intend to pay, from now on, i’ll pay then immediately remove the payment type.

fair enough, but edit your original post to mention that your card’s details including the card number were never in Blizzard’s system

just saying the expiry date/CVC weren’t there doesn’t mean anything because of the auto-updates provided by Visa and Mastercard

A cancelled sub shouldnt be renewed either though.

Since we’ve seen it happen before, did you actually cancel the subscription or did you just remove the card details (which doesn’t cancel the subscription)?

I did cancel it. thats why it didnt bill me since October. Disputing payments with blizzard leads to banned accounts. Advising customers of the situation is the right thing to do.

are you sure you didn’t just pause the subscription for 6 months

I believe it’s the Visa Account Updater thingy mentioned above.

I recently had to cancel a credit card that was compromised. Had all new numbers, exp, ccv. This was about a month ago.

Last week I got a text and an email from IL Tollway (I haven’t used it in like 2 years, I don’t live there but drive through occasionally) saying my old card was removed and a new card added. I at first thought it was a scam text as tollroad ones are notorious.

I went directly to the website and lo and behold there it was, my new card.

And that is when I learned about the Visa Updater thingy. It definitely freaked me out at first though thanking it had been hacked.

didnt even know visa did this kind of thing, to be honest. Thanks for letting me know to remove my preferred payment option from every service after i sub. Keeping in mind, a visa debit is not the same as a Visa Credit, not sure if that changes what visa does, or not.

I can say with some certainty, that is entirely false. The only place we obtain credit card information, which is encrypted mind you, is from the person entering it into our systems into their wallets or for a specific purchase.

It is unlikely that you actually cancelled, and more than likely that you just paused your subscription. The date/time of when your subscription was billed is approximately when it would have been on your normal cycle.

That makes sense if your last game time purchase was 10/2. If you paused your subscription for 6 months, then your 10/2 purchase of game time would have expired 11/2, and 6 months after that is 5/2, which is when this purchase was made.

Now, I don’t have access to your full card information, obviously, as that it encrypted. We do see the last 4 digits though and looking at your purchase history, Arasharana, the last 4 digits are the same as your purchase in December of 2024 and October of 2025. I’m not sure what card from January you might be referring to.

If renewable payment method information is no longer good and card account itself is still good, ie you replaced the card because it was lost, it can still be charged. They don’t need to get the information anywhere from microsoft. I deal with this all the time.
