Microsoft buying Activision

Can’t be worse than the carry spam, I welcome the change.

Bad. Microsoft literally just published the development of an “inclusive” spell checker that checks over people’s stuff to make sure it is worded inclusively a few days ago. This is not good news for the game.

But why tho

Why agree on the number 69 (billion)?
You think they would have learned by now.

Well, i mean there are questions and concerns. But microsoft essentially fired bobby kotick. Which is a good thing. I mean, he will go about his daily life as if nothing happened. No jail time or anything as usual. But i mean, he no longer works for blizzard, or for anyone. That is all that matters.

He was legit the prime innovator and enabler of all the stuff that was happening at blizzard. But idk. I think it is interesting though and will be wierd seeing what else changes.

Makes me wonder what Warcraft 3 would have looked like if it had been made after a Microsoft takeover. That was the company that made Age of Empires, a single purchase price game that they continue to work on and support the older versions even if you don’t buy the new one. And their treatment of AoE is excellent, its probably one of the best, if not the best, of its type of game around.

I have no idea what it means for the future of Blizzard. Microsoft own Xenimax, who own Elder Scrolls Online and from what I can see that ownership has been fairly positive for ESO. It has its niche and it fills it well. An old gamer like myself doesnt really get the whole Metaverse thing but it looks like this is part of Microsoft’s metaverse planning for now and the future (if I’m understanding the concept properly). If it’s done right (and their head of gaming, Phil Spencer, certainly seems to be moving them in the right direction) it could end up being very good for all you younger players out there down the track.

Who knows, the dream of a new WoW might very well happen. I can almost imagine updated graphics (not UE but something closer to Overwatch) with a game playable across all kinds of systems and methods and in a variety of ways I can’t even picture. The light of Elune might have just got a bit brighter.

LOL for real Ghorzok for real…we need that as a battle pet…

I think my only concerns are about monopolies and stuff like that, as microsoft does own alot of stuff now. The paperwork just hasn’t been fully aquired and signed etc.

The other concern is how Blizzcon will be handled going forward. Because this is what separated blizzard from other gaming companies. The communities and blizzcon itself. They took alot of money and work and collaborations etc, to set them up. So microsoft might decide it is not worth it. But hopefully we see this event still, possibly under a rebranding. Idk, blizzmicrocon. So hopefully they keep this event.

I feel like other than those things, i expect the same. The workers being treated well, as they were receiving abuse from alot of the evil and abusive bully players, but within the workplace as well. I feel like i can bet the quality will go up.

I mean, world of warcraft is like a second life for me. So hopefully do not drop it. I don’t think they will though. World of warcraft still does pretty well. I mean, i am hoping for blizzard to become what mike morhaime originally envisioned it to be in the first place. At least his apology was way better than anyone who worked at blizzard during the scandal. I just know in my heart that was not what he wanted. Just lacked leadership skills i guess.

But i mean, i expect more of the same. The microtransactions and store pets. All that i don’t think is going to change. Every company has that stuff to an extent. But idk. Hopefully things turn up for the better.

Well gentlemen. Its been a pleasure playing wow with you.

Titanic is wow the elderly couple is vanilla and BC mom is wrath talking to mop and wod. Captain Smith was probly Chris Metzen and the clock adjuster was the fans who loved the game and still tinker with the sinking ship. Theres no time guy is legion and the guy taking the life jacket off dead Shadowlands is the future expansion.

But we know what becomes of that future expansion…

Your cast now someone edit it to that lol

Wait you are quitting? Why.

There are no more lifeboats to anywhere safe. I’m probly one of those who will be dying with the game in the frozen wastes of what remains lol. I higly doubt MS will make things much better but hey…they dis buy minecraft and terraria so maybe

Waaaaaait… They bought Terraria? (I’m literally playing it again with a friend for the… 14th time or something.)

They gave us rain and then they sold the game.

Maybe those were really tears.

I guess these forums will be going soon, too.

I get into in from time to time atm playing Notia lotta fun and depth but kinda hard.

Microsoft took over Xenimax (who own Bethesda, the company that makes Elder Scrolls Online and Skyrim, among other things) in 2021. ESO is a minor player in the realm of MMOs; its numbers are nothing like WoW and probably even less than FF14. However it is a quality game nonetheless and the fact that Microsoft was happy to spend almost $US8 billion on the company shows that it is invested in creating a large and varied gaming stable.

I cannot see them spending as much as they have on ActiBlizz and doing anything to damage that investment. On the contrary, I feel a lot more confident about WoW’s future today than I did yesterday.

Oh i mean, i agree. Phil spencer spent 70 billion just to purchase activision blizzard. I cannot feel like i am the only one who feel like this was done on purpose. I mean, the gaming and non gamers alike are tired of bobby koticks crap.

I mean, i don’t 100 % think that it was a gesture to anyone. Like i am just hoping we don’t get stabbed in the back. Because phil spencer could just create his own evil empire. But it is highly doubtful. But i mean they did purchase blizzard at a time during the scandal. I don’t think they would have considered buying blizzard 2 years ago.

But i am hopinh they fire bobby. Even in the article i was reading it said spencer was planning on taking action. My guess is that action was buying blizzard away from bobby. If that is true, then i expect more good than harm. But who knows at this point.

Define good? Every expansion was good, even SL, and then there’s some bad in some ways too
