Alestorm. Scottish Pirate Death-Metal.
Interesting anecdote: Karen always viewed herself as a drummer who sings and was actually a really good drummer. (I believe she was even voted better than Bonham in '75 in a drummers world magazine poll, obviously that’s subjective, but compelling all the same.)
Re: iron maiden, Bruce Dickinson used to instruct at my old flight school. Saw him once. He also owned a Cessna 340. When maiden was touring around the southwest around 2010 or so his band mates took the Gulfstream (probably a 4) and he and a few others tried beating them, Albuquerque to Phoenix, in the 340.
The jet smoked them, but I liked the attitude of wanting to try. Allegedly, when the 340 called LA Center, the controller told Bruce in his 340
“I have a message from (the Gulfstream): You lose”
Another good story is when Bruce gave a free lesson to a new pilot who had no idea Bruce would be his instructor.
And because I haven’t seen him in the list yet, the big hitter of the neoclassical metal scene (alongside stratovarius)
