Merge when?

Just out of curiousity,

Have had been playing since the re-release of classic.

As I ride through Pandaria and go around to main cities it’s almost like a ghost town.

It’s run its course for me and I’ve put in thousands of hours since the re-release.

When will the option come to merge characters with current retail so I can get all the things I missed as a child to my current account?

As I don’t think WOD classic will be a thing.

I don’t see a reason to have the awards I worked hard for be on the live populated servers.

And I don’t need anyone saying the “rare” part of things will be gone.

Just remember feldrake twitch drops

I will quit if they merge us to retail, they should just give us MoP era if they don’t give us WoD.

Shut up, Troll.

They said that these characters would not be allowed to transfer to retail. Back a while ago.

My guess is that if they shut this version of the game down totally they will allow some form of transfer and if they do not, they will not.

Ghost town? Really. I avoid Pagle and its sister servers at all costs because I find them too crowded.

My guess is that that won’t be a thing either. I suspect that classic progression characters will get the SoD treatment, whether that means stopping at some era moment, i don’t know… but I sure wouldn’t hope for that to be MoP.

:woman_shrugging:

I expect we’ll get some sort of announcement about it at Blizzcon. It’s not that far off now.

We’ll find out at blizzcon but my guess would be as soon as mop is actually finished. (I’m not sure if there’s another patch after SoO or not?)

Either way it’ll be soon!

We should be getting another “mini” patch that will allow us to upgrade 2 more times. As for any other content being added it’d just be WoD pre patch and the introduction of Mythic, the Versatility stat and removal of hit/exp/dodge/parry. But it’d be shocking if WoD comes, I’d like for it to, but, that all depends on potential projects they have in the works and when they’re launching imo.

Expect the sorry we don’t plan to do anything for you announcement at Blizzcon.. but hey.. here is Classic+ that is just Classic with hardly any changes again because we listen to the same 3 people that drag us down the same old road time and time again (and its easier for us to do as little as possible as a cherry on top).

We’re going to WoD. I don’t understand this “there’s been no info” position. When you were or are on summer break, did you need your school to tell you you’re coming back in the Fall? When you go on vacation, did you need your job to tell you they’ll be there when you return?

Blizz has consistently released expansions on these classic servers. There’s no reason to think they will not continue. If the “WoD isn’t coming” camp just looks at who runs this show (cough Holly Longdale cough) and what her history was with MMOs (specifically EverQuest and their version of progression servers), they would know Blizz will keep this going until Classic reaches retail and either a. merges servers into an active retail server or b. maintain them as their own retail server.

Oh, and these EverQuest progression servers have less players combined than Pagle, and even less than the lowest pop Pagle-feeder server which is Immerseus (according to Ironforge.pro). If EverQuest keeps them going, you can be certain Blizz will.

They could just give us the OPTION to merge; it’s not that deep. I have spoken to plenty of people who have the rewards from cata and MoP that many of us were too young to push for, all of them said they could not care less about more people having them and if it means more players for retail, what is the harm.

I have plenty of experience with EQ and Holly. But naming someone to run a variant of the game does not give her control over how the corporation handles whatever comes out of Blizzcon - with the popular expectation being some form of Classic Plus. It probably does not even give her much of a say.

There is an entirely non-trivial chance that Blizzard - at levels far above Holly - will decide that its resources are better spent on fewer versions of the game. One extreme - Retail and Classic Plus.

But even if they decide to keep other versions in maintenance mode (which Classic Era has been in for long years) MoP Classic is not the leading candidate to preserve unless they keep every current version.

Few have mentioned this but they could easily merge Anniversary and MoP Classic. Presenting it as a wonderful thing for players on both variants which it would be if the alternative is a shut-down. Anniversary could race through expansions and catch up to MoP in a year and then both could be frozen as MoP Classic Era or WoD Classic Era or the like.

It’s not going to happen lol they are not going to alienate huge numbers of retail players who were told that would never happen to make the comparatively small number of Classic players happy.

They have also said we would not get classic servers as well and yet here we are.

don’t forget about multistrike or is it multihit either way that stat was busted.

Yeah Multistrike. I completely forgot about that, good looking out.

that’s not going to happen.

Not only small number of Classic players, even smaller number that actually want this/care about this. Half of my guild will never play retail.

They should just delete 100% of all of our stuff from Classic and not merge any of it with retail.

You realize that anything that has been taken out of the game in retail would not be transferred from Classic to retail if it is something they do. It is not in the retail coding anymore
