from vanilla. they had an outpost in eastern plaguelands, another outpost in hinterlands, and are sprinkled thru out alliance areas, such as the one in the sw mage tower, the one in the lodge in loch modan, the one in honor hold hellfire peninsula (alleria and turalyon’s son, arator) and the 50 in allerian stronghold in terrokar forest. those all preceeded wrath and several of them gave alliance players, quests.
I am 100% for this. Having race specific hair is silly in the first place. It’s just a waste of resources and puts unnecessary limitations on character customization.
I said in the Void Elf customization thread that I really wish they’d spend a couple patches making a huge variety of hair (and beards) that were universal. Blizzard seems to get stuck on trying to make hair specific to certain races, but what we get are just generic long and short cuts anyway.
Just give us all a huge collection and then utilize the new toggle feature to slap on culturally specific things to their respective race. Night elf leaves and Void elf tentacles, as a big example.
Speak for yourself, which is what you seem to do often. I have never wanted to play a space mummy, and Void Elves were the best thing to come out of the whole allied race deal for me.
You don’t have more “High Elf” options because you have rp tools to be a High Elf while you play a Void Elf. We’re Void Elves first and foremost.
A noble quest, to be honest.
Is this really a win with the current portrayal?
For all the involvement of the Void in the story of the Void Elves, they don’t do much when the Void crops up. EVERY time the Void came up as a story element in BFA the Void Elves were virtually absent for it. Oh, with the exception of being minions of N’Zoth in the Horrific Vision of Stormwind.
Every time the Void Elves wielded the Void, they didn’t do anything we haven’t seen mages do a million times before. The only difference was the Void Elves did it in shades of purple.
This is just my opinion, but anyone who was interested in a race steeped in Void Lore lost big time due to Void Elves. We could’ve had Ethereals, we could’ve had the Krokuul on Argus, we could’ve even had Pale Orcs. Instead, we got Void Elves, a race that even the developers knew were such a meme they named their Thalassian name after an edgelord, ‘dark,’ character. Ren’dorei, named after Kylo Ren from the new Starwars movies.
I’m not saying people can’t be happy with the Void Elves. Only that, from where I stand no one has any cause to celebrate this race, because not only did Blizzard pull them out of nowhere, they failed on every level to meaningfully develop them.
An approximation of High Elves. Class options are wrong, Entropic Embrace is an obnoxious racial, and the heritage armor is not remotely High Elven. Heck, its not even Void Elven. It literally looks like Dreadlord armor painted purple!
I am very happy with how everything turned out.
: )

This honestly.
