Merc Mode doesn’t just fix queue times, it greatly impacts faction balance. Faction balance impacts PVP, PVE, wPVP, and the economy, which then feedback loops back into server & faction balance.
Try gathering ore, herbs, skins on a 80:20 or 90:10 split server, ganked constantly, and the economy is in the toilet, so people leave the game, go PVE realm or go to dominant faction.
Thus Merc Mode will turn your PVP realm into PVE realm.

factions were a mistake from the beginning
only reason many people even play on pvp servers is because those are usually the biggest servers. if they all became horde it would not impact my gameplay one bit
When the faction balance is in favor of horde, all is well. As long as baby mode pvpers who need every single advantage in the game have those needs met, the game is fine.
As evidenced by Blizzard breaking the game for these crybabies.

…because many of us actually like wPVP? That plays a huge part in picking a realm. Knowing that you can go out and fight or on your way to a dungeon/raid you might have an encounter?
that’s retail and this is classic. the community that got classic remade is not the same in retail. if you like retail, go to retail, we wanted our original experience back (with as few modifications as possible)

With how gaming has been in the past 10 years it should have been obvious that people were going to let a spreadsheet decide their fate in this game. I wanted to experience being an undead warlock again so I did that, knowing full well that queue times were going to suck.

not at all. Factions were a mistake and I’ve always thought so. Extremely poor game design. Blizz recognizing this for classic is a good thing and I’m glad they addressed it. Realistically anyone threatening to quit won’t actually do it because wow is their drug and they can’t live a day without it so losses will be minimal. Aside from some grandstanding purists most people will stay

I wouldn’t call it poor game design when it’s literally one of the most basic concepts that WoW is based on in the first place. It’s poor game design if it’s an after thought. It’s not poor game design when it’s pretty much what everything is based on…
