I was playing this newly 80 character a couple of hours after hitting 80 to finish up some old world quests I like because I like gold.
Some random stranger playing a 20-something Troll character kept following me around and spamming “meow” emotes at me.
I ignored them and left when I was finished, but is there any kind of meme thing about meowing at people I’m not aware of? Or was that guy a weirdo?

I believe I explained it, but because it is relatively caught up on trends even newer ones. The average wow player who never goes outside will not be though.

The thread is only 9hrs old, only 133 views, the forums only represent a very small amount of players and WoTLK forums are not very active.
I think this has more to do with it than anything else, but I’m pretty sure people know how to google and it takes as much energy to google as it does to Chatgpt. People who refuse to google will also refuse to do anything else. Chatgpt is not some magic unicorn.

It could be either thing actually. I’ve got a friend on Grobbulus who knows someone who likes to be friendly to kitty (druids) and emotes in similar ways.
Do you play on Grobbulus or any RP server? This appears to be you presuming just as much. Nobody here actually knows because we aren’t talking to the person doing it.
Also, my son who is 12, in other words a preteen, knows about this but most adults would not even if they “get out there” with other adults. Even the articles online point to this being teenager lingo. If you want to talk down to people over not knowing teenager lingo that’s fine but I think doing that (especially with something could be this OR RP) is a bit odd.
(Oh also asking ChatGPT questions is also IMO odd but maybe some teenagers are doing that all the time too).
