Melee class self-healing

Cannot believe how disgusting melee class self heals are. DH self sustain, DK spamming deathstrike when 9 of their CDs are finally down, fury bloodthirst, etc.

These mechanics are not fun to play against in the slightest. Give people cooldowns and buttons to press so people can outplay them. Let healers heal and dps, dps.

Tru tbh. Going against a DK in a duel is just horrible and not fun in the slightest

JMO if a melee spec is allowed to heal it should have a cast time, and melee specs with high mobility and/or control (e.g. multiple CC baseline) should have very weak self heals.

qq from both a hunter and a shaman about dks? lol, just run away, its not like we can keep up with either of you.

1v1 really isn’t given consideration in spec balance. I can only imagine that so many melee classes (you even forgot to list a few) have so much access to self healing because in teamfight situations, we actually have to compromise our positioning and be at risk to deal any damage.

Sleepily chaining gpyro from the backline is less hazardous to your health.

We have a lot less agency as to where we get to stand to deal damage, be that behind a clump of allies, up on the z-axis, etc., we have to stand wherever the enemy is standing.

Wish i had self healing.

I actually started to bring up arms warriors but deleted it to keep the post more concise lol.

Arms is completely lacking in self-healing and is widely considered useless outside of generous healer attention.

Hence why im prot, even thought i have zero self healing i can normally survive alot longer and maybe kill something to get a victory rush off.

I could agree with you on deathknights to an extent (blood). Demon hunters are literal pieces of paper though. All you have to do is look at them and they die. And outside of enraged regen (or whatever the fury defensive is called) bloodthirst heals for hardly anything. And, as pointed out above, melee don’t have the option of dealing damage from range, we have to stand in mass AoE to do any damage.

honestly what it comes down to is that shaman blows. ele and enh are not fun to play. wish they were back to the way they were in legion

WW monk fits this description. I haven’t played mine in a while, but I remember vivify healing for a pittance, with a cast time.

Grip, perma slow, cant hardly be slowed yourself plus wraithwalk.

slow isn’t perma, and keeping you slow costs resources i also use for damaging abilities, so its either slow you or hurt you.

hunters and shaman have the ability to get away in a bg. its not like we have an infinite amount of space to catch up, objectives need to be guarded/taken.

Lol well as enhance then I should just run from you all game? Dk ranged damage is decent too lol…

As for hunter… Hunters really shouldn’t be able to kite dks that well. Stun on roar and grips on deter

considering the game isn’t balanced around 1v1 and dks are meant to be slow but kill you if they catch you deadly, yes, you should be running away if you are facing one 1v1.

if built for it, most dks i’ve seen tend to take the arena build or run a pve build, which tends to be more melee based. very few of us go full hybrid ranged.

hunters have a slow shot or trap that still slows dks, and they can disengage+slowfall away. once out of range of chains and deathgrip they can literally run away on foot.

deathgrip isn’t something that i can just spam all day, its often saved for an interrupt or to keep people from running away, meaning that you can just wait for it before you use an exit strategy cd. the only time a dk should be gap closing with deathgrip is when they are gripping someone into a melee group.

Trying to run away from a DH or DK as boomkin or even trying to defend myself against one is awful. I thought I had decent self healing. Against a DH or DK? Nope. Not even with resto affinity because I’d have to deal with taking more damage without bear affinity.

The self healing is crazy. I thought that was the job of tanks like blood.

I agree with you on that one bud, dks are absolutely obnoxious right now.

They aren’t immobile either which is a huge problem. Imo the gotta nerf chains of ice/death grip to cost like 50 runic power.
