Killing Wildhammer like this was a big mistake one way or another. They’re so important to the Alliance and to be cast aside as just a Bronzebeard Dwarf cosplay is ridiculous.
Plus we lose a possible druid.

So many missed opportunities, imagine if they got a heritage armour similiar to heroes of the storm Gryphon Master Falstad, feathers and all…
Druids aswell, and Alliance need Druids
Edit: linked the Skin!
Yeah theres a lot of missed opportunities with the Wildhammer.
It drives me nuts.
I know but honestly at a minimum I’d love it to say I’m a Wildhammer Dwarf atleast
To be a little overdramatic… the current implementation is essentially the cultural appropriation of the Wildhammer by the Bronzebeard.
Basically Wildhammer Dwarves are realistically Bronzebeard Dwarves in cosplay… , that’s what Blizzard gave us.
Definitely a little over dramatic but I know what you mean.
It just sucks. The Wildhammer clan is a storied one and was indispensable to the Alliance form WCII on.
I mean, I’m still grateful that the bone was thrown… but it can be difficult to gnaw on that scrap while looking at the veritable feast that others are having.
Which irritates me because all three clans look distinctly different. Yes, the Bronzebeard are the LOTR-type dwarf but the other two clans are not. They nailed DID but Wildhammer is not just tattoos.
In Blizzard’s own book, Day of the Dragon, it says that they are taller, darker skin and thinner than the other two clans. By darker skin I mean tanner. DID are obviously “dark” but more in the gothic sense.
Wildhammer go back to at least WC2. They should have been the very first AR along with the Dragonmaw.
Anyone who thinks they are just tattoos needs to re-read Dwarven lore. They’re so much more than that.
Aye, and they have a significantly different culture than the other two clans. Plus could have given us a new druid.
Fully agree.
Though they could also have gone the Revantusk route to pair with them.
Here’s hoping customisations are not finished, I’d love feathers in beards, moustaches and hair… be able to stand out more from our Bronzebeard brothers.
Ofcourse updated totems too…
But this is all a huge pipe dream…
Of course. I’m always going to ask blizzard to reconsider and add the Wildhammer properly, but failing that more customization and alternative racials would be nice.
Yeah, if they’re going to go the multicultural route going forward, there needs to be some way to internally distinguish yourself from the other cultures within your “grouping.” As is, ostensibly, the racial armour for a Wildhammer Dwarf is Ironforge Plate - that kind of thing is irritating.
Extremely so.
Also that their connection to gryphons is just ignored for laziness from blizzard.
The most storied and important Dwarven clans, oh no that’s fine as just customization. No Stormhammers no gryphons. They’re just dwarves right?
Blizzard made Wildhammer a joke.
And their treatment of the Dragonmaw Clan is just as perplexing, if not moreso. They’ve been a focal point so many times, both in-game and in novels… yet they somehow remain a blindspot?
Yep, Ironforge heritage armour, Ironforge totems, Bronzebeard build and skintones, Stoneform…
Painting a Bronzebeard does not a Wildhammer make. These details add up.
Thus why I keep referring to them as Bronzebeard in Wildhammer cosplay.
Its a real shame and just disrespectful to the dwarven lore and story that they were done in like this.
Wildhammer need to be their own AR. At the very least they need their own racials. Ignoring their Stormhammers and Gryphons is silly.
It’s a shame really, my only hope is we get racial titles within the core race to stand out, for all race clans, tribes. Obviously best outcome Dragonmaw and Wildhammer get proper Allied Race treatment.
But actually the totems should be Wildhammer styled, lore wise during the cataclysm expansion, when dwarves unlocked Shaman as a class was because the Wildhammer Dwarves…
I actually always thought they were.
Not enough. We need racials that actually represent the race.
