Megathread: Twilight Highlands Allied Races - DRAGONMAW Orcs and WILDHAMMER Dwarves

dont use that mog then?

That’s not an argument against its inclusion. That’s an argument against you personally using it.

Why are you against it being added for others?

because its a waste of development resources that could go towards us getting something actually worth the time to develop like san’layn or sethrak?

Checking a box to make a skin color playable would not take away development time for San’layn or Sethrak, if they were to be added.

they literally said that something would cost us a raid tier. there’s a reason its a meme

My point stands. Checking a box to make a skin color playable costs zero actual development time and can be done in a matter of seconds.

If you seriously want to go the route of saying that to check a box would cost us a raid tier, then there is something far worse going on with this game.

While checking that box is better than nothing, a compromise is a compromise. I’d much prefer the full treatment.

You and me both.

I only made that argument because checking a box is the natural equivalent to what’s being done to Wildhammers atm. It also dismantles the claim that it “would take development time,” which seems to be your opposition’s sole argument

100% behind this whole thread OP.

Wildhammer should be an AR and so should the Dragonmaw!

Yep! In WarCraft II, my strategy as either faction was to spam fliers: dragons or gryphons. In a way, these two factions have defined my perception of the WarCraft universe because of that. Yet, even though they both get a nod every expansion - more than some of the core races, technically - they remain unplayable. It boggles my mind.

if it wouldn’t be a hassle, why haven’t they done it?

With these things my first thought is always to ask myself ‘why not?’ rather than questioning why to do something like this.

I think it would be a super easy way for Blizz to give us two extra allied races with next to no work.

Precisely.

When I see people posting about Orcs and Dwarves already existing… that’s kind of the point! It’s using the existing models and animations as a baseline and putting a unique spin on them. It’s a relatively low effort for quite a bit of payoff for those that are invested in having these options.

Additionally, who doesn’t want to play as the WoW-equivalent of a Slayer?

didnt they give dwarves mohawks?

WH dwarves need to be significantly taller for me to want to play them. Srsly don’t with dwarves. Not like we need any more typical humanoid races anyway.

Methinks Allied Races with unique rigging and entirely new races are the exception rather than the rule. This is the place where recycling of content should be encouraged. Reuse and repackage those assets to give us a new spin on existing options!

That being said, yes, Wildhammers should have a unique silhouette.

I just think any dwarf race is not popular enough to actually justify.

I’m not saying I want more elves cause I certainly don’t.

But considering how little I actually see people playing the current dwarf options I think it would be a waste of an AR when alliance had already had some bad ones.

Pass. I’ll take ogres. Not more of the same. Nice post though.

We need Ogres, too. As a core race. There’s room for both.
