with the addition of wildhammer as customizations for normal dwarves i feel that is what they will do with the dragonmaw, making their skin color an option for normal orcs.
unless they make the dragonmaw different, i always thougt it would be neat to make a weredragon, like the worgen version of humans for orcs, but they would turn into draknoid/dragonborn kinda of race
this is supported by the outland dragonmaw clan who could turn into drakonid using ethereal dragon magic.
Itās just so curious that if they were going to make Dragonmaw a customizationā¦ why didnāt they? Itās not like they didnāt have the opportunity. I can only assume they looked at the NPC options and deliberately chose not to include them.
We didnāt even get it on a second pass, like the changes Elves received.
If I were to don a tinfoil hat, Iād tell you it was because they were lined up for an Allied Race.
Also, the Ascendents could work out that way, or they could go full Druid with it.
Not entirely connected to this, but I would like to see a flat-out Dragon playable race, which allows you to choose your humanoid form from your factionās roster.
because they half-asset most of the races to focus their time with elves and humans, who seem to get all the attention
they did the bare-minumum in other races, so i can see they just forgetting about those options, hell, the shattered hand color is not even an option for the maghar.
i just donāt give enough blizzard credit for it.
that would be cool too, i think there is already topics talking about this, i saw one or 2 in mmochampion some years ago.
i would prefer orcs weredragons though, that sh1t seems and sounds heavy metal
Wildhammer would also be a palette swap (regardless of whether they are CR or AR) so it is relevant.
This too is relevant, because it shows that they make go/no-go decisions for new content based on the amount of playtime they think it adds to the game. Core races add less than allied races do, that is a fact.
Sidenote, I know the Maw mail legendary helm is going for that demonic theme, but the horns are giving a draconic vibe that Iām loving. Really makes me wonder what the developers could pull off for a Dragonmaw heritage set.
This is kind of missing the point of the Allied Race system, though. We should be getting new races, but they should also be receiving the core race treatment. Not another asset reuse, like the vast majority of Allied Races.
I think Zandalari and Kul Tiran getting their own rigs really skewed player perception of the intent of the system. But theyāre the exception to the rule. Allied Races are the place for us to get those low effort, high reward additions to the roster.
I donāt find it boring. I have quite a few dwarves and some are the same class. For some of us adding Wildhammer as an Allied Race would add more legitimacy to the Council of Three Hammers. It doesnāt look right if two are clearly playable and the other isnāt really. There should be equality between the three in lore and game play. Iād rather see an expansion of existing lore than adding something new that muddles things.
Yep. And Wildhammers would have added more variety in choice if they were added instead of Dark Iron. Now you have mountain-dwelling dwarf or mountain-dwelling dwarfā¦ but on fire! Thereās a lot of cultural distinction between the Wildhammers and the other Council clans.
And for a game that puts a lot of importance on culture, they should totally take advantage of that. I would love to see it! Especially if they had all three clans working together to fix something as important as the Stonewrought Dam in Loch Modan. Funny how Dark Iron were the ones trying to destroy it when it was designed by a Dark Iron. lol The only instance we really see of the three clans working together was in a free short story that takes place right after MoP. We should be seeing more, but Blizz wants other stuff and sadly that other stuff is making me lose interest.
Rather than another allied race that is virtually indistinguishable from the ones we already have, why not simply make them available appearances?
Iām over these so-called allied races that we have to grind for, for no purpose. Take a look at how few people play some of the allied races now. This was from 2019:
Dark Iron Dwarves were less than 1%. I doubt those statistics have changed all that much. So you suggest making another couple of races that hardly anyone would ultimately play.
