Megathread: The Other Half of the Dragon Fantasy - DRAKONIDS

wut?

You can run full dungeons and raids with a slew of sole classes and/or races already.

And you dream you want this full dragon team, without any other is not a good design for all.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Are you saying that I only want Drakonid so that I can field an entire raid team of dragons? Not only is that completely wrong, but I’m legitimately puzzled as to how anyone could arrive at that conclusion.

Are you perhaps misunderstanding the thread? This is about playable Drakonid, not about Drakthyr. The article linked was about the possibility of playable Drakonid, which also stated they were definitely not bringing the warrior class to Drakthyr.

Bytalth brought it up again in response because if they were to make playable Drakonids, that a melee or warrior class might be possible for Drakonids.

I know they are not getting the tank spec as a Drakonid,I’m not the dumb, just like mages are not getting a tank spec either but sure enough the dracthyr got a healer and dps as a mage. Confusion only make design worse. If they said they are going to make it it would’ve already been in the game as of now and not from the past but now.

I wasn’t trying to be rude. If you took it that way, I’m sorry. I was just asking if that’s what you were referring to, because that’s not what this topic is about at all.

The topic is that we would love to be able to play Drakonids. Look at the OP’s very first post for examples and scroll down to post 72 and 73 for other ideas. :dracthyr_uwu:

Dracthyr are not Drakonids.

If Drakonids were to become playable, odds are they’d have access to quite a few tank specs.

People love to play them I know, been knowing this since wrath, but the incentive is to form a full dragon team(fantasy at play) Dps,melee and tank are excluded right now if they wanted this team it would’ve already been.

You think i don’t know the difference ,ok.

Correct. Because you are referring to Drakonid as if they are Dracthyr, as seen here:

You’re talking about Dracthyr Evokers. Not Drakonid.

Ok,good day not arguing for arguing sack.

It’s not even arguing, though. I’m legitimately trying to understand what you are trying to convey.

Drakonids are evolved from Taraseks, Drakthyr are a human dragon hybrid created by Neltharion. Not even close to the same thing.

“The dracthyr were created by Neltharion. Neltharion saw potential in the mortal races that had begun to emerge across the world. He created the dracthyr as ideal soldiers, combining the essence of dragons with the traits of mortal races.”

The original drakonid were transformed from tarasek, a reptilian species native to the Dragon Isles.

Regarding the Tarasek:
Tarasek are dragonkin native to the Dragon Isles. They are highly adaptive, peerless hunters able to channel elemental energies.[1] Neltharion considered them little more than fodder and targets for the training of the dracthyr. But they are cunning hunters, and deadly when encountered in packs. Over ten thousand years ago, the Dragon Aspects uplifted the tarasek into the first drakonid.[1]

In modern days, drakonid seem to be created from mortals, empowered by the dragons they serve, via intentional alteration or via “unintended side effect of hanging out with dragons”.[20] They have thus been described as half-man, half-dragon.[21][22] The process does not have to be willing.

Still holding out hope we get playable Drakonids in the future. :dracthyr_heart:

really is wild how after 2 decades of anticipation for a playable dragon race, they choose what may be the most anticlimactic outcome of not only making the dragon race an exclusive class in and of itself, but also it being the most effeminate portrayal of a “dragon wizard” one could possibly come up with.

To me it just shows the contrast between the consistent WoW playerbase and the ever-changing creative minds at Blizzard that work on WoW. I legitimately don’t think Drac’thyr as they currently are would’ve made it through to the live game without at least having a plethora more options ranging from more Male Draenei-like body types, to being able to play at least a few other classes if the OG WoW team were still working on the game, it’s just so uncharacteristically… gentle.

But this outcome works too, Drac’thyr are their own thing now and that’s fine. Drakonid can be the far more regular “dragon race” for players who enjoy their current class but simply wish to be a dragonkin.

Evokers could have been cool… But nooooo string bean twinks is what we got with no options otherwise.

Like Kul’tiran skinny it’s never gonna be and that makes me sad.

It’s because past blizzard made stuff the player base thought was cool and mean.
Now the creators at blizzard only want to make what they feel they personally like and don’t want to create the metzen style game.

Been hearing many are not happy about Chris coming in because they won’t get to make what they want wow to be for them personally they have to make a wow the players like.

I miss the cool factor of wow… everyone and their mother wanted to play it, ews media fear mongering it, it use to be THE GAME.

Went from D&D grit and dark Fantasy
To awwww feelings Chromie give sad Nozdormu hug, now well moisturized Nozdormu happy! Yay sunshine rainbows happy happy happy Disney fairytale.

Even the enemies look too soft and safe the game feels so sanitized for an age group to isn’t teen anymore…

I don’t think we need to trash Dracthyr to prop up Drakonid.

That being said, I would reiterate that this ongoing backlash would have been muted if Drakonid had been released alongside Dracthyr.

Dracthyr are, by design, missing some key elements of the dragon fantasy. Drakonids as a counterpoint complete that fantasy.

Got a source for this one? Because it sounds incredibly made up lmao. From what I’ve seen from the devs on twitter and in interviews, they’re eager to be working with him again.

Considering how the Sundered Flame had Drakonid among them, I wonder if playable Drakonid would just join the Dracthyr factions over having their own seperate one.
