Megathread: The Other Half of the Dragon Fantasy - DRAKONIDS

Thicc beefy drakonids.

:dracthyr_a1: :dracthyr_a2:

Draconic is a term to describe things with the traits of dragons. Dracthyr are draconic. As are drakonid. There’s room for both.

Nope, they are not draconic, nor dragons, nor nothing.

And water isn’t wet.

I’ll keep spoilers on the down low, but more-or-less, there’s going to be a forthcoming addition of a group of Drakonid that are unaffiliated with the dragonflights. A group that may find themselves in want of a purpose in the near future…

Drakonids could be a thing at the end of the DF expansion. It will be a good surprise for sure.

Yeah, I was reading that kinda wondering about the direction myself.

That wasn’t even the group I was thinking of. Now there are at least two freshly directionless groups soon to be in play in the current narrative.

Oooh, even better.
I’d probably make a character to play as one. They’re neat looking.
What was the first group you were talking about?

There’s a few that are still in the belief that Neltharion is going to return, found down in the 10.1 zone.

Why wait for the end? It’s been a recurring theme that the so-called “lesser” dragon kin are not universally content in their subservience. I could envision a faction breaking away with any patch. The groundwork has been laid.

Id race change my Paladin to a Drakonid in a heartbeat.

I’d certainly make one.
A drakonid paladin living his life in the defense of others and following the teachings of Tyr. Could even give them the dragonflight spell effects or whatever other spell effect they wanted to use.
I keep saying if they were to do class skins, making various cosmic powers available to the various classes would be great, and as new ones are added, they could be expansions for added customization, like how we had the Progenitor magic in Zereth Mortis. The gold geometric stuff…that’d be a cool spell theme for a paladin worshipping the first beings. Also makes sense that a religion would arise to worship them.

Drakonid using the powers bestowed upon them by the flights to protect azeroth and others as paladins would work for the same magic visuals kinda like Evokers have. Dracthyr paladins would work as well.

I’m morally obliged to support this thread.

Likewise. I want to start race changing a ton of my alts into Drakonid ASAP.

Looks cool! Drako warrior would be pretty sweet and another alt i can add to the mountain i already have. Maybe theyd be the last character i make because id actually dtick with one haha. Could have some awesome racial abilities too

I’ve always tried and failed to get into Warrior. But none of the races appeal. It always feels like there’s a more suitable class. Drakonid stands a good chance of bucking that trend.

I would honestly be cool with Drakonids being added as their own separate race.

I think my personal ideal scenario, would be adding a “Drakonid” body-type to the Dracthyr, while also opening up a few other Class options (maybe only Evokers are born with wings?).

Either way though, I definitely think Drakonids (or that type of “dragon”) would be an excellent addition to the game, and one far more welcome than the Dracthyr has proven thus far.

I might consider scaling down their size a bit, though, something comparable to the Tauren (I would say the same of Dracthyr actually, they seem unusually tall compared to older races).

They’re called Dracthyr… :dracthyr_yay_animated: :dracthyr_nod:

Should have been them from the get go. No need to invent a new race when we had one all along.
