Megathread: Ogres as Playable Allied race

Preach it until the end of time. Progenitor races for both main races. Human ancestors the Vrykul for Alliance and the Orc ancestors the Ogres for the Horde.

Weā€™d have to play as the runts because ogreā€™s are frickin huge, bigger than tauren.

I want to hug this thread. Please give us Ogres! It is long overdue!

I would not mind ogres as a race but weā€™d probably have to scale them down a bit, it would be hard to get an ogre character through some doors and under some tents.

Brother you had me at Ogres should be a playable race.

Theyā€™ve had the Hordes back for a long time to be ignored this long is crazy. I would like a permutation to have TWO heads for my Ogre Magi role play immersion.

Thereā€™s no race better no race more deserving of a spot to be played in game. Iā€™d drop half the Allied Races for Horde right now forever if I could get my hands on a Ogre.

I think based on official heights, tauren are actually supposed to be bigger than ogres. Its just tauren got shrunk down for the game and ogres didnā€™t

Give us ogres already blizzardā€¦ why is this still not a playable race

Looks like a livestream focusing on more of Shadowlands is coming up on June 9th, at 9 AM PT.

"Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up to show off more of World of Warcraftā€™s next expansion, Shadowlands. The developer has confirmed it is hosting a livestream event on June 9 where executive producer John Hight and game director Ion Hazzikostas will provide a new look at the expansion.

Hight and Hazzikostas will give the presentation from their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The stream begins at 9 AM PT, and you can watch on the World of Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels. GameSpot will also carry the stream as part of our Play For All campaign."

Note: The following link has autoplaying videos, so please keep that in mind if you click on it:

I feel like the only chance weā€™d see anything Horde Ogre related would be during the prepatch, if different areas get under attack by the undead and if Dustwallow Marsh or Tanaris are affected. I donā€™t expect much to happen if either areas do see some action, and I suspect that the Stonemaul would still have dragonkin wandering around their home if we did have undead invasions there. Guess weā€™ll see what is shown off on June 9th.

Dream big, Ogre fans! :japanese_ogre:

There is one strong thing i have to disagree with, they should not be a allied race, this is a core race.

Given that Ogres were considered for Cataclysm and allegedly considered for WoD and when WoW actually launched, Iā€™m still hoping that playable Horde Ogres have a decent chance at becoming a reality. Iā€™m planning to continue showing support for them and Iā€™m not planning on giving up any time soon. Iā€™m honestly in it for the long haul.
