My name is Pepino and I approve this thread , seriously long overdue.
If you play an ogre with two heads, do you need to obtain two different helms?
Could be their racial passive, a lot have a weird racial, void elves cheaper xmog, Vulpera larger bag, Lightforged with the anvil.
Ogres could be 2 helmet xmogs
Edit: Hope Blizzard considers Ogres, females could use those fat Blood Troll model!
Likely, you would just have one helmet slot with the appearance of each head having a helmet. Otherwise, it would be a bit unbalanced to have an extra equipment slot compared to other races.
Hope everyone has a fun, safe, and happy holiday season. Iām thinking with the year ending, Iāll do what Iāve done in a few other megathreads and look back on the year some, which I should hopefully type up in the near future.
As usual, dream big Ogre fans!
Best post Ever!
I think Iām gonna use that line in the future. I need at least one ogre on my character list, and the fact that theyāre still absent after all these years should be considered a crime.
I will add that I donāt think ogres should be an allied race. I feel like that would be a colossal disservice to a group who has been around since the beginning, they deserve to be on the list of core races; no reputation, no unlocks, you can just make one and go. Perhaps Blizzard could kill two birds with one stone and do the same with High Elves (hopefully modifying their animations a bit to make them a little more distinct from BE/VE), that way that debate is also put to rest.
Well a new year is coming, and I was wanting to do what I did in a few other megathreads I frequent and look a bit back on the year while looking forward some. First, Iāll look back at the year.
Iāve actually been a lurker to the forums for many years. I remember seeing some support for Ogres, such as Rickflairwoo and the Ogriāla website, occasionally here and other website forums. Ogres have been something Iāve personally wanted for a long time along with Saurok as my most wanted playable races, both of which I silently hoped for before BfA.
BfA and the allied race system did renew some hope that at least Ogres might be considered, and seeing all the race megathreads that popped up gave me some inspiration to start posting on the forums and show support. This megathread was also among the ones that gave me some courage to make my own Saurok megathread.
Ogres are a race that, in my opinion, are long overdue and have been something Iāve wanted since I first started playing WoW shortly after BC came out. Itās why Iāve written a lot for this megathread and tried as best as I could to show support of some fashion for them. Itās something Iāve personally enjoyed doing.
Sadly, in terms of BfA, the Horde Ogres havenāt really made any sort of appearance. If anything, there are two Ogres, who may be Horde affiliated or not, in the Bazaar area in Zuldazar who sell rocks and two-packs of hats. I suppose there are the Gorian Ogres that came with the Magāhar Orcs, but who knows where they went to? Iām going to guess that if the Horde even remembers they have Ogres within their ranks, they wonāt be utilized at all when we take on Nāzoth in 8.3, so it is disappointing that they never made much of an appearance since Cataclysm. Not even as grunts in the war against the Alliance, which is something Iāve grumbled about quite a bit and will likely continue to grumble about in the future.
Speaking of the future, obviously I will continue to show support for playable Horde Ogres. They are one of my most wanted races of course. I do want to type up more scenario writings and such as well, such as thinking about what to do with Dire Maul and Feralas. Iām not sure when Iāll be able to, as free time will likely continue to get limited as a new semester of college occurs. Still, Iāll try to find some time to type up stuff.
At any rate, Iām thankful this megathread was created and am happy to be among the supporters of playable Horde Ogres. With any luck, we may see that eventually occur. I know Iāll keep showing support as best as I can.
Heres to a new year and as always, dream big Ogre fans!
Those beardy ogres! Make it happen.
In regards to two headed ogres, the obvious answer is to have one head spot for gear and then an extra transmog spot for the other head.
Ogres will be available one day!
I literally agree 100% with everything youāve written.
Blizzard make it happen!, let 2020 be amazing for WoW!
The other spot could be a racial, they can transmog 2 helmets
I mean the obvious, obvious answer is to just sync the two heads.
We will have our Ogres, GLORY TO THE GORIAN EMPIRE!!! Highmaul will rise again!!
I mentioned in my last post that there were two Ogre merchants in the bazaar section of Dazarāalor. They both sell grey items with humorous flavor text and are both located right next to each other at the bottom floor of the Bazaar area.
The first is Bolādar, who sells āDesigner Rocksā of different types:
The other is Habdash, who sells āLuxury Headwear.ā Itās pretty much a crate with two hats inside:
As far as I am aware, these are the only Ogres that appear in BfA. They were likely meant to just to get a chuckle out of players passing by, since I canāt tell if they are from the Stonemaul Clan or any other specific clan. I suppose some friendly Horde Ogre representation is better than nothing.
On another note, 8.3 is quickly approaching. At this point, Iād be surprised if I saw anything Horde Ogre related, but if I notice anything, Iāll be sure to make a mention of it here.
As always, dream big, Ogre fans!
Itād be nice to see Ogres become playable as they would have made great shock troopers for the Hordeā¦ and you can never have enough shock troopers! Where Tauren could very much take the position of living battering ram when needed, an Ogre would be rather like the Hordeās own War Troll (Olog Hai for anyone whoās played Shadow of War!)
Thicker muscles, really strong, harder to kill; often not needing all that much armor either; easy to outfit and you only need to give them a nice, big weapon! Preferably something to crush things with.
Of course, this is just shock troopers. We still have the Shamans, wizards and other spell casters to cover!
In Draenor it was shown that the Ogres did have quite a society onceā¦maybe they could finally be starting to rebuild it, either under the Stonemaul Ogres who are allied with the Horde, or perhaps some as yet unseen community has built up somewhere and they reach out through the Stonemauls as representatives to request membership to the Horde?
Thereās a number of ways they could implement of course.
Well, it seems that BfA has come and gone, and it feels like itās ending on a bit of a damp squib. Not to mention that other than two Ogre vendors and some Gorian Ogres that came with the Magāhar, as far as Iām aware, there hasnāt really been a Horde Ogre presence at all.
Then again, they havenāt really been utilized much since Cataclysm and kinda MoP, so I canāt say Iām too surprised that the Horde Ogres miss another huge war against the Alliance and yet another world-ending threat. I guess Iām moreso surprised that we didnāt even see any Ogres as units in this war at all anywhere. Youād think weād see some in the ranks in the BfA areas, but no such thing occured, sadlyā¦
Assuming the Horde still remembers they have Ogres within their ranks, the Stonemaul Clan, assuming they got their home back, might be holding territory in Dustwallow Swamp. Iād like to assume they would still be helping in Feralas and possibly trying to help take Dire Maul over, though apparently itās still suppose to be empty from my understanding, so who knows what is going on there or if the Stonemaul are still in Feralas?
Of course, this leaves the other Horde Ogre clans a mystery. Who knows what Megs is doing with the Dunemaul? Not to mention that the Gorian Ogres that came with the Magāhar still have disappeared without a trace, as they certainly werenāt used against the Alliance or NāZoth for that matter.
As it stands, Shadowlands may not have much in the way of Ogre content, but Iāll be sure to keep an eye out for anything and report it. Given the circumstances of the expansion, however, Iād be surprised if the Horde utilized them at all in the new areas.
Ah well, it has been a long march for supporting playable Horde Ogres, and Iāll still continue to do so as best as I can. Hopefully, weāll see them appear in the near future, especially as a playable Horde race, but until then, Iāll still fly my Ogre banner high.
Dream big, Ogre fans!
As always when this topic comes up Iād like to point out thereās been a site about playable ogres since BC, including a character creator.
Ā“http://ogrila.org/
Iād bet horde will get MokāNathal before ogres but I support ogres for the horde!
Ogres would be cool!
Next allied races should be:
Ogres (Horde)
and
Centaurs (Alliance)
They could re-use the KulāTiran skeleton for Ogres.
