Megathread: Ogres as Playable Allied race

To get the most value, they should permit Ogres to be a playable race during a pre-release for the next expansion, but then take them away!

Just as soon we we gut Sylvanas like the pig she is and throw her broken body into the Void.

THEN the sacrifice to unlock ogres will be complete.

You take that back filthy gnomer!

The Ogres shall ride in to save sweet Sylvie on mounted kodoā€™s, stolen from the treacherous Tauren, to save the day and solidify their mighty Hordeness!

Iā€™m pretty sure the Horde Ogres would sooner help a coup to overthrow her than do things for her, given the state of things. The Stonemaul Clan in particular has ties to the real Horde via Rexxar and even Thrall to an extent. I canā€™t see them supporting Sylvanas at all unless they were tricked or coerced to, in whichā€¦I would really hate to see them in that fate. <- <

By helping the real Horde, it would absolve their debt to the Horde, pave the way to being full members, and also playable in my opinion!

I will say that my ā€œMarch of the Stonemaul Clanā€ player event I want to do would make sense with a new warchief. I canā€™t imagine Sylvanas caring at all for entertaining an audience of Ogres, let alone wanting to induct a clan of Ogres that she would look down on as official full members of the Horde, but I guess I have to add some sugar to the lemonade I want to make out of these lemons I got. As I said, it isnā€™t like she would blight us. :V

Anyway, please think of the Stonemaul Ogres and let them help in the coup plans. Being turned into undead thralls is very low on their list of fun, happy, and healthy activities. Save the Ogres, save the world.

My favourite moment of BfA is Rexxar throwing his axe into the back of an enemy to rescue the player when they have a net thrown on them in the war campaign.

Rexxar is not some snivelling whiney Saurfang sucking up with pouty lips to Anduin to QQ about how he should be Warchief with Honor. There is an Honorable way to become Warchief and neither Saurfang or Baine are taking it. It looks like Green Jesus is back and Iā€™m sure he will have a go.

Rexxar I could get behind, but Ogres just arenā€™t stupid enough to side with anyone that sides with Alliance scum. Besides who wouldnā€™t want to be a Lightforged Forsaken Ogre Paladin?

I wouldnā€™t say that the Horde is siding with the Alliance for the heck of it. I mean, the planet has been in peril many times and that required the Horde and the Alliance to put aside differences to save the world. Besides, Sylvanas isnā€™t exactly sane or caring about the well-being of others, let alone caring about the Ogres of all things. She enslaved a clan before she joined the Horde, so I doubt she would care about any other clans. Ogres deserve better. D:

Besides, after the fact, the Horde and Alliance will be back at each otherā€™s throats, and the Ogres will happily ā€œbash da lie-enceā€ regardless who is leading the Horde. ^^

How aboutā€¦now hear me out hereā€¦Void Ogres. Think about it. Ogres only with ink black undercut hairdos. Itā€™ll be epic.

In thinking about my ā€œMarch of the Stonemaul Clanā€ event, Iā€™m going to keep an eye out for when 8.2 gets officially released. If it happens to come out in July, when I was planning the event, I will likely delay it until a few months later, depending on how my Fall classes go. Otherwise, I will tentatively plan for it sometime in July still, assuming nothing else pops up. Again, nothing is set in stone at the moment.

If in the event we do get a new warchief in the near future, it might make more sense to do it then. As I mentioned before, Sylvanas wouldnā€™t really like suddenly being visited by a group of Ogre and Ogre supporters requesting them to be official full members of the Horde. Iā€™m sure I could hear the eyes of her and Nathanos rolling from a few miles. Still, it will happen if she is still warchief by the time I get to do the event. :V

I previously typed out an intro text for new Ogre characters regarding multiple clans, but I figured I would try one that is focused on the Stonemaul Clan:

ā€œTharg: We da Stonemaul. We stand strong. We endured many tingsā€¦lost our homeā€¦and almost lost our lives. But da Horde saved us, gave us strength, gave us our home back, and now da Horde welcomes us among dem. Da Stonemaul intend ta repay da debt back to da Horde for all da help dey give us. Go now, Ogre of da Stonemaul Clan. You make name for us. You teach dem lie-ence da might of da Ogres, and always rememberā€¦no matter what, we will survive. For da Stonemaul! For Da Horde!ā€

Needs a bit of fleshing out, of course, but I just wanted to give it a try.

I am currently working on a scenario I mentioned regarding the events of 8.2, which would show how to implement the Stonemaul Clan back into the storyline while showing what theyā€™ve been up to since Cataclysm. Iā€™m taking my time to type it out and edit it as needed, while also considering if Iā€™ll post it all in one post or in multiple parts. Hopefully Iā€™ll be able to share that soon for those interested. ^^

i will be really happy about this. Cause that would show some real effort from Blizzard in the game.
A two head Ogre Warlock would be awesome.

Why so many alliance speaking his opinion about this?.

I honestly donā€™t understand why they havenā€™t been included yet as a main race. No reason for them to be an allied race. The Stonemaul Clan have been allies of the horde since vanilla.

Horde shouldā€™ve got ogres and alliance shouldā€™ve got pandas.

I want them for the Alliance. Just to watch heads explode. After all, Horde got High Elves.

I honestly would be really disappointed if they put Ogres on the Alliance, especially if it is just for the sake of the Horde having gotten Blood Elves. One of the main reasons of putting the Blood Elves on the Horde was to avoid a faction imbalance, which isnā€™t as big of a factor as it use to be back in the day. To put Ogres on the Alliance just because of that would, in my opinion, just cause disappointment and their story would just fall flat.

Ogres, in my opinion, should be Horde. They generally have had a history with the Horde, their culture and personality fit better on the Horde, and given that there is already a full clan, with history since Warcraft III, within the Horde, it would just frustrate me to see playable Ogres just be put on the Alliance.

Aside from the Stonemaul clan, it is true that the Horde havenā€™t been too friendly to other Ogre clansā€¦then again, neither have the Alliance who have slaughtered many clans of Ogres who were hostile to both factions to begin with.

The Dunemaul were ā€œinductedā€ into the Horde, though this was through the actions of an ambitious Goblin that likely has low moral fiber when it comes to profits. I donā€™t really see blaming the Horde for this, especially considering we havenā€™t seen Megs or the Dunemaul since Cataclysm, so the Horde may not even realize what she has done.

There is also the Dreadmaul that were made to be slaves by the Horde, though they werenā€™t exactly friendly to begin with. They followed a dreadlord before Cataclysm, then were enslaved by the Horde in Cataclysm. I doubt they were open to peace negotiations, so of course battles would have occurred. This did lead the Dreadmaul into helping the Iron Horde, but it wasnā€™t like the Dreadmaul were innocent and kind to begin with.

The majority of the Draenor Ogres werenā€™t friendly to either faction, also. The Ogres in Frostfire Ridge had enslaved the Frostwolf Clan and generally were not nice. The Gorian Empire, at the time, was hostile to both Horde and Alliance, which required both of them to attack the empire since it was causing problems.

As for the Gorian Ogres in the Magā€™Har recruitment, a number of them did come with the Magā€™har Orcs. Iā€™ve said it before, but I donā€™t see them just wandering off on their own to live off the land elsewhere, especially after the Magā€™Har tried to convince the entire clan of what was going on with the AU Draenei and that they were in danger. I see the Horde working something out with them so they have a place to live and also be able to assist in the war. This considering that the Magā€™Har utilized many of the beasts from Draenor in BfA, so why they wouldnā€™t convince the Gorian Ogres to help, and I donā€™t mean as slaves, just makes no sense to me.

The majority of other Ogre clans are hostile to both Horde and Alliance. I really canā€™t see the Alliance reaching out to any Ogre clan, let alone letting them just walk freely in places like Stormwind. Furthermore, a lot of Alliance members likely harbor anger towards Ogres, who made up units in previous Warcraft games. I also see any Ogres on the Alliance similar to the Dunemaul, in that they would be under indentured servitude as opposed to being treated as a full member. There is also not much in the way of arenas on the Alliance, which the Horde has, so likely the Ogres would be bored on the Alliance compared to being on the Horde. In my opinion, it really does not fit to put Ogres on the Alliance, regardless of what clan would join them.

Ogres, in my opinion, belong on the Horde, and in terms of playability, the Stonemaul Clan is the best way to implement them as playable, given their history with the Horde since Warcraft III. Hopefully, weā€™ll see playable Horde Ogres in the future.

On another note, Iā€™m still working on that Stonemaul BfA scenario I mentioned before. Hopefully Iā€™ll have either part of it or the whole thing to share soon. Real life tends to get in the way of progress, sadly. -o -

Ogres would go horde if added, thereā€™s no doubt about that. The people that complain about Blood Elves being on Horde conveniently ignore actual lore as to why they did so. Itā€™s getting old, really. Honestly, ogres being on Alliance is about as likely as Mahā€™gar were to end up Alliance. Which was little to none to begin with. So I wouldnā€™t worry about it.

Alliance High Elf first, then we will talk about it.

This doesnā€™t do your community a favor at all to come into other threads that have nothing to do with High Elves and demand them as opposed to the race being talked about. Just saying.

Made up wanted races, Where they would go if created, kinda fits the same narrative. But whatever keep the Horde happy thats priority number 1.

ā€¦Moving on from someone that is trying to take the thread off topic and demonstrate why people dislike that community (not all of them, but people that pull that nonsense),

Iā€™m looking forward to seeing your writing. Youā€™ve done so much for all of our communities that Iā€™m eager to read it and respond. Heck, youā€™re almost inspiring me to look into ogre lore a bit more, I love your enthusiasm.

Moving on from someone that think they are part of the Censorship Bureau Of the Wow forums. Thank you for enlightening me your Majesty.

Iā€™ve said it once and iā€™ll say it again:

I probably only would play one long enough to unlock the heritage armor, but I know people want them and theyā€™d fit well into the Horde concerning the lore, so I support Ogres as an Allied Race!

Ps: No race needs to happen before another, theyā€™ll happen when they happen. A horde raceā€™s existence should never be barred from joining the game because of a race from the opposite faction.
