It’s because Blizzard is still running on the idea of “you think you do, but you don’t” and don’t really believe that Classic is here for the long haul - thats why they are taking it slow, to the frustration of all involved.
Now that some people have put in 15+ hours, restarting is daunting to most and don’t want to swap servers even with the “little” amount of time they’ve put into the game given the long term amount of time they’ll put in. Personally, providing character transfers now might be a solution to evening out the queues. However, even doing this will provide other servers to fill quickly and then the process repeats so it’s tough decisions to make for Blizzard and for the players. Even now, I’m unable to play with any of my friends as NEVER everyone is in the game together due to these insanely massive queues. If we were to switch the same thing would happen because then other people will do the same and we’d end up in the same position… It actually makes me sad and angry knowing that any time I put into the game right now is most likely irrelevant as i won’t be able to continue until 2am at which time is pointless.
You’ll mess with the community if you wait a month THEN allow character transfers. Right now, all we want is to be able to play with our friends and we can’t even do that. imho

Uh, if you knowingly roll on a Full server, you should expect a queue during peak hours, at launches, during patch releases, etc.
There was not a single US East PVP server without an insane queue yesterday.
The original 3 were at 25k+, the other pre-launch servers were 15k+, and the new ones that kept popping up were going to 8-10k almost immediately. There were 250,000 people sitting in queues at one point last night. No guild was going to move 30/50/100 people on 15 minutes notices just to sit in a new queue.
So now we are stuck with the option of playing without our friends or hoping blizzard pulls there heads out of their collective asses and gives us either more layers on the existing servers or transfers out at a guild level.
They never should have let 50,000 accounts reserve names on 1 server
The second it hit 30k they should have locked them and doubled the servers that day. Adding them in 1 at a time was a stupid plan, waiting until after launch to added in another dozen servers when THEY were saying full servers would have 10k queues (note ALL PVP servers were listed as Full DAYS before launch).
They wanted to err so far on the side of caution against potential dead servers months from now, the screwed up. And they are still refusing to admit that screwed up.

Herod has 8+hr que time at 2pm EST. How do you think that is acceptable blizz. You mention lofe of the game your going to lose a lot of people and they will stop playing if you cant get your stuff figured out. We pay for a service and that is not acceptable
We need free character transfers off Herod ASAP. Ten hour queues to play are beyond absurd.

So we’re getting bad info because you’re using an old (and I’d say useless) algorithm. And you’re refusing to update it. Maybe you can update whenever you guys ever feel like fixing the dungeon/ pvp queue timer (same thing, bad info given to players due to bad algorithm).

And how does it look for your future server health if you can’t get players playing the game at launch? This is laughably the worst launch that come from blizzard since Diablo 3. What does it matter if you put out new realms? Anyone who’s started leveling on a full server can’t transfer off and will wait in the queue to level their main regardless. You guys have flawed logic and you need to reevaluate. If you actually want The have to succeed here’s what you do: open 10 servers (the minimum that should’ve been opened at launch per region), allow free realm transfers from all current realms and lock the current realms. Or, you could increase the number of players you can get into a server at any one time.
You can’t keep blaming the player base when we filled up every server, with only a fraction of the player base subbing to reserve names, a day after they opened.
Really bad planning.

It is like the BFA mods don’t realize WoW is a MMO and people picked servers to roll on together.

My server last night was Medium and had a 1.5 hr, 7000 person queue that stretched to 2 hours.

This is the primary issue people are facing. We would be happy to move if we had notice, or just a couple more options. We went RP-PVP, Grob was the only option, so we gathered a huge guild there. Obviously we cant just move because the core group is well into the 20’s now and everyone else is stuck trying to queue to get in and catch up.

We haven’t filled up every server though. They’ve added like 20 since the original batch.
This will destroy the functionality of many servers. Can you imagine how messed up the economy is going to be in favor of the 0.01% of people that get to play without any DCs? Everything is going to be ruined within the first 3 weeks because of these Qs. There will be dominate forces on every server that will control every single aspect of the economy. They’re also the people that are given unfair purchasing power with zero possibility correcting the imbalance.

Everything released before midnight EST yesterday was full last night. Its been 1 and 4pm in the US right now. Once everyone gets off work/out of school they will all be full.
Faerlina, Fairbanks, Herod, Skarm, Stalagg, and Whiteman are all sitting at 4+ hour queues already. And asking people to move is dumb because they have to move an entire guild, and if last nights any indication you will still end up back ina queue, just a different queue

Can we at least get free server transfers for those of us who are WILLING to move? Kinda hard to get the queue reduced down if there’s no way to move characters.

i don’t have queue times in bigglesworth but my fried do have a 30 minutes wait in a realm is low-med populated… why?

The “low” population rating in the list is dynamically based off of the other servers’s currently logged-in population of users. That “low” pop, will still have a queue.
but i don’t have any queue at all, my friend beside me have 30 minutes in the same realm, i have relogged 5 times and i don’t have any wait time, why is he having such trouble?
