Mechanic burnout

Cringe.

I don’t mind the mechanics, but i agree that caster dps (and healers as well) disruptions to being stationary are a pain.

as an arcane mage, my biggest damage boost comes from being in a circle I put on the ground and then having to stand in that circle doing 15 sequential things with at least 10-12 being on the GCD.

sure it takes knowledge of fights to know when to do that, but this rotation has to happen roughly every 40 seconds to be anywhere near the top of the damage output possible. so sometimes, you have to do nearly nothing while you wait for something bad to happen so you can move and set up.

one might argue that the waiting is knowing the fights, or doing something inefficient for a few moments until the time is right to unload is smart playing.

however, it feels bad to know that your CDs and 15 sequence rotation are ready to send and you are just biding your time to see if you get the random bad thing on you (and just hope you don’t get the absolute zero on you in lfr - that just means you will get deleted.)

I do admit that I have been feeling a bit burned out from PvE in general. I’m in that point that I just want to sit down and relax, but there is no point in doing lower mythic keys, and doing higher ones is fundamentally a stress. So what winds up happening is that I don’t log on as much as I did when the expansion began.

Right…and some groups do evidently force players who want to join to use certain of those addons.

Better, probably not.
Advantaged over those who dont use them…certainly.

All I know is lately it feels like one massive game of “The Floor is Lava” or “Dance-Dance Revolution” and it is becoming more exhausting than anything else.

I am getting to the point where I doing M+ runs is transitioning from something I do to wind down from a hectic day of work to something I have to try and psych myself up for. It makes me sad. Also, I have to PuG most everything and that just exacerbates the issue because most PuGs seem incapable of dodging mechanics that should be easily dodged.

Thats the thing though, man, you DONT need addons this expac cause everything is telegraphed. Literally every mechanic. The only times youd die is if you werent paying attention or if you stand in front of a boss.

The game screams it to you, DBM just screams harder.

It really isnt that hard. People just find it hard because they refuse to do the mechanic or are finding issues weaving spells/attacks properly.

I played at the end of bfa all the way through SL to now.

Never have I ever ran into a group where they said I needed addons. Ever.

I ALWAYS pug mythic+ groups or host my own key while pugging with one friend or so.

Never. Ever. Ran into this issue and nobody I know, guild included, has ever run into this.

Literally only time I have was on classic WoW where someone told me I needed a gear score addon. Was during wotlk i think

heres a VERY interesting forum search

I don’t generally.

I use one add-on to cancel out the annoyance of other add-on. Ppl use these cringe auto mark add ons to mark me the tank, which blocks me seeing the debuff above my head when I get Odyn brand, so I use a weak aura to display what I should be able to see and put it elsewhere on my screen.

It’s because the game is catering to a newer, younger generation who likes more face-paced games.

I used to love running keystone dungeons for hours on end but the mechanic bloat just makes me feel like I need a cigarette. Bosses are more complex, which is fine, but they went super swirly crazy, aoe interrupts, and unavoidable damage at times. Thundering makes it feel even worse as it’s just a constantly happening nuisance mechanic that makes you even more aware of how many swirlies and other dungeon enemy or boss mechanics you have to deal with to counter it safely at times.

They design the mechanics for the top 10% of the player base, trying to slow them down from burning through all the content in less than a week. Leaving us regular players and casuals suffering through all this BS instead of just having a fun dungeon run with friends. We’re playing like sweats, trying to find the two foot wide spot on the ground that isn’t covered with 1000 swirlies ready to insta kill you.

You guys were talking about mechanics, not iq and positioning.

First it was number.

Then it was “what is a mechanic” .

Now its “you didnt count positioning”.

You just dont want to accept theyre right. Positioning around a mechanic, is part of that mechanic.

Classic 5 man strath and scholo were hard at the start.

MC, Ony, BWL same story. They had 1-2 mechanics and then you needed some resistance gear as well.

AQ20 and 40 had some fun mechanics.

But I agree - if we wanted to play lets dance then we would of just bought that game. Its annoying to cancel long casts every 5 seconds.

Dogpile more I guess.

First, I listed the bosses abilities.
But, it was “not every ability is a mechanic”. So I listed the things you have to consider to successfully do the boss.
But those don’t count because they’re not abilities.

So which is it? Is it the bosses abilities, or it the mechanics you have to navigate? Or do you just want to aggregate things down to one or two words and call that an explanation? At which point, might as well just put them all in the same bag and say “don’t stand in the bad” or “if a mechanic happens, handle it”.

The truth of the matter is every boss has several mechanics to deal with, sometimes the overlaps and complexities and nuances don’t manifest themselves in lower keys, but they exist all the same.

in raid no. thats the fun of it.

in dungeons yes, only because of these random affixes that can be simply over the top for certain weeks.

if they could at least make it so there’s no “terrible” week where everyone just feels like waiting for the next week that would be great.

Agreed!!! Way too much going on constantly. Normal raids feel like mythic. Mythic raids feel like mythic + 20 lol. It’s very annoying. Can’t stand it. Game is slowly pushing me away.

It’s ruining the decent Xpac

The game and dbm does a horrible job at telling you when to move.

There’s button bloat, at least 1-2 too many move mechanics per boss, and the leveling experience from 1 is busted from a tuning perspective.

I would really not want to be a new WoW player during dragonflight.
